Installing vBulliten

I just got vBulliten and I'm having a little bit of trouble installing it. I have it uploaded, I can run steps 1 and 2.. then I get this error about the db_mysql file having an error parsing.

I think my config.php file may be messing up. I'm not sure how to type in my variables

Parse error: parse error in /home/d-fuseo/public_html/gt/vB/upload/admin/config.php on line 27

and

Warning: Failed opening './db_.php' for inclusion (include_path='.:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/d-fuseo/public_html/gt/vB/upload/admin/install.php on line 318

Fatal error: Cannot instantiate non-existent class: db_sql_vb in /home/d-fuseo/public_html/gt/vB/upload/admin/install.php on line 320

Hey, I run vBulletin too. Are you sure you have the config file setup properly? All the variables in it changed to reflect your SQL database?

ok first of all remove all the files and install it the right way.

dont upload the upload directory, open the upload directory on your local comp and upload the files to a folder called "board" or "forum" or a folder name of your choice.

it should be

home/d-fuseo/public_html/board

and

home/d-fuseo/public_html/board/admin

I'm not sure why you have so many folders it just makes it harder. Did you create the database first? and set the users?

What version of vb r u using?

also for the database name and database username did u add the d-fuseo_ to the beginning of what you made these?

I bought vb well worth the cost, not a big cost, and its 100 times better then any other bb systems hands down, its quality.

To answer your question, the parse error is probably a result of you changing a variable and accidentally deleting a quote or something.

If you post your config file minus your passwords then we can probably point it out.

Also vbulletin.com will probably give you a lot more help on this then we can they are the experts...

The developers of XMB just left so there will be limited support for it now and no new versions. I've been happy with phpBB 2.0, the best free forum IMO.

I would add that I won vBulletin and it's worth buying for the support - there are some really helpful people in the vBulletin community.

I've used several free boards and most have at least some bugs...
