Hi. There are a lot of free forum scripts available for download. I'm using phpBB (http://www.phpbb.com) but there are others (Ikonboard (http://www.ikonboard.com/), Yabb (http://www.yabb.info/) and XMB (http://www.xmbforum.com/) to name a few of the more popular PHP/MySQL driven forums).

That's not a problem...with phpBB2 (and I'm sure with the other scripts as well) you have total control over forum access and permissions.
