has anyone had problems sending smtp with verizon DSL? Up until now, I've been able to use the hostrocket smtp server with no difficulties. Suddenly, any ougoing messages with my domain email as the from address aren't allowed. I've tried all possible smtp settings. It seems as if verizon has suddenly disallowed any outgoing mail from other domains. If I change my from address to vze3vp7z@verizon.net (that's the actual address they gave me!) mail will route through their serve with no problem. Has anyone seen anything similar?

Well honestly I tried Verizon and Bell Atlantic (before they became Verizon) and found nothing but problems with them. Also that default email account is basically for billing purposes other than that forget about it and make a secondary account (it's much easier and you can choose the name). My suggestion to you would be to set a day aside and wait on hold for their tech support and ask them what the problem is or log into your account there and search through faq's and see if you can find anything. You may need to change some settings in your email program.

I have the same problem. When I send mail out I have to use another smtp server or match the name and the account. It works though for both or VSE account and our aliases though. PITA!

I have pretty much abondand the Verizon accounts for outgoing. Been that way for about 4 months.

I also had problems for months with newsgroupd. No help from verizon on it either. Finally I learned they have less then standard max packet size 1492 instead of the standard 1500. I changed that and solved my newgroup problem but only have much pain and suffering.
