I own a website not hosted by HostRocket, but I would like to change my host provider to them duo to the services they offer me and they aren't offered by my current hosting provider. But before I move to you I need to know about how the operation will be done.
What is the meaning of Transfer in you signup form? And when I shall use that option?
Can HostRocket Transfer my website from my current hosting provider servers to theirs (I mean copy all the site files to their servers) or HostRocket can't do it (I have to upload them again)?
Do I have to cancel with my current hosting provider so I be able to signup with HostRocket with the same domain name, or this is not a problem. I can cancel later.
I have the domain name registered not by HostRocket, so shall I keep it that way or I have to register it with HostRocket?
If I will keep it registered by it current registration what information I will have to change with it? And what if I can't change?
Thanks for your cooperation,

Well first of all you are making a good choice by coming to HostRocket.
Now to your questions... To answer your first one regarding how to move your site. That will have to be done entirely by you. For the most part the files (I am assuming) should be on your hard drive because you needed them there to ftp them to a site. So you will need to ftp all of the files to HR servers.
Be careful about cancelling. Some hosts will require that you pay a cancellation fee if you cancel your plan early. Be sure to ask them and read over the contract you signed before you joined them. If you can or can't it really doesn't matter just make sure the contract doesn't renew afterwards.
You do not have to re-register the domain. If you registered your domain through your old host you will have to find the registrar (company who was paid to register the domain), and then go to their site to change the DNS information to match that of HR. If you registered the domain independantly then you should go to that site and change the DNS settings from an administration area there.
Also there really is no reason that you would not be able to change the DNS information. If that ever were the case I would highly recommend paying a fee to another registrar (or maybe have HR contact theirs) and ask them how much is it to have the domain be registered through that company.
Hope this helps you out a little. Also note that DNS changes are not quick. Allow 72 hours before they should take affect. However, HR will give you a temporary address until the DNS changes take affect.

Thanks man, that information was very helpful to me.
I'm hosting my domain through Lycos I guess... and after I signup with HostRocket they will give the infomation I need to change with the DNS, right? and I should chose Transfer in the signup form?
That's also mean that I don't have to pay for registration of the domain with HR, only the signup fee anf the first month $15, right?
Thanks again

HR will give you the information once you have signed up. Also your domain registrar is NOT lycos. I looked at lycos where they have people sign up for domains and it says powered by Register.com. So you will have to go to www.register.com to change DNS settings. And on your 2nd comment yes you are correct all you will pay for is the activation and however many months you paid for. If my memory is correct HR bills you for your term all at once unless you are paying monthly.

Actually, as the owner of a domain you can modify any settings you wish directly through the root domain authority (Formerly Network Solutions, since been bought by VeriSign). While it usually is a tad quicker to have the approval of the hosting firm to transfer away from their services you can also follow the instructions to forcefully depart.
VeriSign's Network Solutions: www.netsol.com
The area you need: https://www.netsol.com/en_US/manage-it/index.jhtml
