How do I setup a mailing list where I will have x number of people on it, each member and remove themselves from list and new members can add themselves to the list. Only I should be able to send to the list and see the membership. Each member will only be able to join or not join.

I have heard about majordomo but I know nothing about it. I have tried with aliases but then everyone have access to sending to it and there is no good way to manage it.

Any ideas?

its probably easier to take a trip to hotscripts.com and check out some of the perl and php scripts that are in there. there are some quite good scripts in there that are quite secure and stable.
