View Full Version : Can HR Handle a "big" VB?
Can Hostrocket handle a vBulletin with 1200+ members and 5,000+ topics? I currently have UBB, but it seems that vBulletin really cuts down on space, yet uses more system resources especially if MYsql isn't configured right. I know this forum is vBulletin, but I wanted to make sure that a bigger vBulletin forum wouldn't bring HR to its knees.

vb version 1.14 basically quarters the requests to the database over 1.13 making it less resource hungry and and swifter
ed sullivans page at http://www.vbulletin.org has a couple of hacks for thread optimisation which further reduces the load on the db.
version2 is due for release soon check out http://www.vbulletin.com
for updates and there sis a working demo up and running kewl features as standard
avatars hack built in
spellchecker
file attch
attach image as url
etc the new code seemingly puts even less strain on the db hope this helps a bit your ubb must be a real bandwidth buster at that size :)

Those optimizations are part of vB 1.1.4.

I am also VERY interested in this. Could someone please provide further insight to the original question.
Now that HR has its own vbulletin board, they should have a fairly good idea of the amount of resources it needs. I want to "take the next step" with my board but I am really worried about the system resource issue. How many active members (at any one time) should I be safe with????
Please Help.
