I can send mail for the control panel 'Web Mail' ok. (I'm assuming that HR Web Mail is the default mail)

However, when I run test and try a reply to the web mail address I get a returned failed mail delievery.

Also, my understanding is that the 'Web Mail' is supposed to be a catch-all so If someone sends to me@athome-sales.com it should show up in my default mail box. Does that sound about right?

Just a tad confused on this mail thing. BTW. My other emails work just fine. The problem seems to be only with HR Web Mail

Any expert (or non-expert is ok too) thoughts would be appreciated.

Aah yes.. this is a common misconception... :)

The webmail is EXACTLY the same as using POP3 (IE, Outlook or Netscape or similar) to get your email, except for the fact that you're doing it through a web page so you can get it easily from anywhere.

Now, why you might be geting a failed mail delievery message, I don't know, but... try emailing me from the Webmail interface and I'll reply and we'll go from there...

Secondly, your main email box is the catch-all. And your main email box is username@domain.com. You can of course log into the Webmail interface with any email address you have set up besides your original one. And yes, you are correct in saying that if someone sends an email to me@athome-sales.com you'll get it in your default.

I hope that answers your question, and feel free to email me for any further help.

Charlie

If you have not done this yet in your web mail click the Options link and set the Email Address on outgoing e-mail:.

Try your test again (send a fresh message from webmail and then reply to it).

Oh, and just one thing I had forgotten... You can change your default "grab bag" email address if you wish... Just go to to the Mail Manager in the control panel, then Default Address. From there you can set your default address to any address you wish (even one that is not hosted by HR (like a Hotmail address)).

Just something else to confuse you a little more... lol (just kidding... :D)

Ok, I'm guessing athome@athome-sales.net does not work because that's not a valid email address, but you have it set up as the default...

I don't know what is going on, but... the default email address SHOULD be user@domain.com, but your case is odd because your user name seems to be "athome-" (without the quotes).

But, an email to athome-@athome-sales.com does not work either... I'd suggest submitting a TT with the above information and letting HR fix the problem.

Yep. the email is athome-@athome-sales.com and that's how I have it set up in the CP. The "athome-" is what I use to log in.
I get rejects from Outlook Express and Yahoo.

I think I'll copy the next reject and send in a TT. See if they can figure it out.

Thanks for the help. Dick..

I think I'm making progress with the e-mail mystery.

I reset my default email. The one I had set didn't have the little - after the athome. Least ways now I'm not getting 'Failed Delivery' messages back.

Course, I'm not getting the mail either. Hey.. It's a start. Can't expect everything to happen all at once.

thanks all for the help.

How do I get WebMail in insert Carrige Returns, not just line feeds when composing a message?

when I enter:

1
2
3
4

I get an e-mail that looks like:

1 2 3 4

Any suggestions?
