Hi,

Has anyone here had any problems while running ikonboard on their server?

It set up perfect, but since I opened the forum yesterday, I've been starting to get occasional CGI errors when entering threads, etc. I get errors such as 'No space left on device'.
I don't think the errors have anything to do with the installation, I suspect it's HR based, because one minute I get the error, then 10 minutes later, it will work fine.

My account has over 150mb of space remaining, so something must be happening on the server side. I noticed quite a bit of irregular downtime during last night too.

Is this starting to be the normal level of reliability on HR?

* Note: As I was typing this, I was getting the errors mentioned above. As I prepared to post, everything started working again...

I have been having problems with install ikonboard 3.01! I changed the permissions just like it says in the docs for it too. I cant even get the script to run.

i'd suggest you get rid of any perl based message board....they can do some serious resource damage on the server side. Get a php board, there are free ones & or if you have extra cash buy a good one.
all the best of luck :)

considering Ikonboard's a piece of crap, you shouldn't blame HR :)

You're lucky if your Ikonbaord just gives you errors on occasion! :) I'm having the same trouble GDS is having with installing it. All the files have strange permissions, and I suspect that if they were all chmoded to 755, the board would work. However, I am having trouble finding an easy way to chmod all million files at once: http://forums.hostrocket.com/showthread.php?threadid=8261

I have many hundreds of posts that I need to keep, so switching to a different board is not an option. I am on host 25 if that matters.

Forgot I'd posted this thread :) hehe

The errors I was getting with Ib were down to the server running out of diskspace (not my quota, the actual server hdd). Anyways, I'd heard mention on here that Ib was very resource intensive, so I swapped over to YabbSE to get back to a full php/mysql db. It's not bad, but now I've seen phpBB2, which knocks the socks of anything I've tried, and I so badly want to convert the forum over to that when they finish it.

It's easily as good as VB, imho, and thats just on using a CVS release. Looks neat too :)

http://sourceforge.net/projects/phpbb/
or http://phpbb.sourceforge.net/cvs/ if you're interested in trying a CVS snapshot.

Im all go now.. Everything works. never didn't now! :D but, now every site i've seen and mine has this error. I think HR is doing maintence! :(

Can't locate DBD/mysql.pm in @INC (@INC contains: ./Data ./Sources ./Skin ./Languages ./ /usr/lib/perl5/5.6.1/i386-linux /usr/lib/perl5/5.6.1 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.6.1/i386-linux /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.6.1 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.6.0/i386-linux /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.6.0 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl .)

I was starting to panic because it worked and then suddenly didn't work... I can't fix that! On a whim, I tried to install ikonboard yesterday and I was pleasantly suprised when it worked.

I had my IB installed and running for about 10 days. then I got the same error, then it whent away, then I go a new error.
If you go to there offical boards, you will find that many people run
IB for a long time and have no prob...but there is still some probs..
Ikonboard is free and has many user changable features that look great. I in no way can program so I found IB to be very easy with many tutes. I hope this resolves soon, I to am on Host 25
