Gallery Photo Album..again HELP!

Hi--

I decided to install Gallery Photo Album through ftp since I was more comfortable with that method. The installation was going fine until I got to the final screen to save the settings and got the following error message:

Unable to write to /home/username *my username was here*/public_html/gallery/gallery/.htaccess

Obviously as a result, I can't save the config or acccess admin to upload. I chmoded .htaccess several times with no luck.

does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this so I can complete the install? Any help would be MUCH appreciated!

Oh, some background info, I just created a blank document in notepad, called it htaccess and uploaded to the gallery directory.

are you sure you chmoded the ".htaccess" correctly?

a good way to do this ( as some ftp programs can't see files with a period at the start of the name ) is go to the file manager in your control panel for hostrocket, find the file and set it's permissions to whatever is specified.

I know i had this problem when installing it.

it would seem i didn't read all your post :-P what i would say is the make sure the folder that the file is stored in is chmodded correctly, other that that i am sorry but i can't help.

just wanted to say thanks..didn't realize that some ftp progs. cant read the . in files. problem solved and gallery is up and running!
