It would be nice if we could have our own name servers for a extra monthly fee. Its the only feature that I had at my old host that is not here.

What was your old host? ALso, I think that would be cool. I would really like that too. For a small fee of course. P.S.- Anyone here set up a reseller account with HR? E-mail me KYLE@KYLECOOL.COM with your website, so i can see if it is cool and works good. Thanks!

My old host was linuxwebhost... they are THE most terrible thing that has ever happened to the internet. In fact, they gave me the nameservers for free, that was one of the few things they did that was good.

What's the benefit of a nameserver?

The only benefit I see is if you were reselling hosting then you would look like your own company. (?)

The benefit of nameservers is that when someone does a whois lookup on your domain, they don't see who the host is... this is useful in cases where web designers want their clients to think that they run the entire operation plus it also looks more professional. Plus you can setup domains and all that cool stuff:)

that, and some web applications require a nameserver because they have to declare themselves to other machines. and it will be more honest to declare your own name rather than your provider's

For my business currently, I realyl don't need it, I just thought it would be cool to have them. Maybe if I start my own hosting company, I might! I just want them, especially if they were oike, free....
