Does anybody have any experiences with a search engine placement service? There are many like these on the web, and I was looking for a good and not so expensive one for when my ads check get in the mail.
Thanks,
Paulo

hrmm.. we do search engine seeding at my work, and yeah it can cost quite a bit depending on the level of seeding. But here's why:
Most of the really big engines (which everyone wants to be on and at the top) changes their 'rules' incessantly. This means someone has to be paid to watch these sites and their rules, and modify their strategies in order to keep up. It goes on and on and on, a vicious (but lucrative, for the search sites & affiliates) circular battle for the top listings. They know it, and they like it. Right now there are campaigns going on with some of these sites that say, "Hey give us your cash and we'll put your icon/banner on every other 1000th hit page", so on and so forth. In actuality you're still getting only minimal viewage.
Your best bet, is to be sure you have strong meta tags for the search bots, and try word of mouth (like forums), and other link exchanges, and there are always magazines out there that like to trump up sites.
Good Luck!
