I just have to say you guys have amazing service.

I signed up for an account yesterday, I wanted to FP2000 extentions hooked up so I sent a ticket with LOW priority and like 2 hours later I get a response that its been done.

Today I send a ticket asking for the subdomain feature to be setup, 10 minutes later I get a response that its been done.

These might seem like simple tasks to complete, but its the simple tasks that make up the whole of a GOOD hosting service.

The $9.95 price is very attractive, but you guys have to look at your expenses and the bottom line. You can't be doing this as a hobby. You won't be doing it long that way and then we'll all be looking for another host.

You have a good service reputation. You can see the business demand you've been getting. If you need to go up in price, do it.

Maybe you could offer a lock-in for existing customers. Let us pay a year in advance and lock-in $9.95. That would give you some quick cash flow, and then none.

You could create a menu of extra features: asp = $3.00/mo, perl = $1/mo. You could also charge for special activities: moving files to new server = $30, setting up SSH = $5.

You could charge extra for special customer service levels. Do that one last though.

Whatever it takes, you need to make it based up your business requirements and the market. Still it would be good to have some $9.95 entry level.

...service is amazing! I had a couple of slowdowns, but requests for service that I figured wouldn't get answered until Monday morning were answered quickly and efficiently.

From a business perspective, I agree with Stone (in principal). Good service goes a long way. They're way ahead of you on this one, Stone. Check out the pricing on their hosting plans. There are increases in some places as well as increased features. I just got in under the wire. And while I hate to admit it, I would have paid more. In fact, I was paying more somewhere else and getting lousy service for it. That's why I switched.

I think there could be an entry level plan below the current entry level. I will never need more than 2 mySQL databases (probably 1 will be fine). I'll use one or two subdomains just to play. As a non-commercial site, my traffic will be on the low side. There are a lot of people who need more than the freebie sites provided by their ISPs, but less than that needed by even small companies. Still, the overhead of managing those sites is probably the same as managing the slightly more expensive options. Less profit for the same amount of work is not a good deal. :-)

That's funny! Our local ISP charges the same sort of prices. He bills himself as "THE INTERNET" around here, and a lot of people think he is the only game in town. If they only knew what we all know :-)
