Do you install scripts, that need owner rights to install? Because, me, i can't install them because i dont have the rights!

As long as you have access to the control panel and the main account login you can ul and set permissions on any scripts you like..
even 777 on cgi scipts which i know from past hosts a lot of them wont let you run you have full control over scripts and permissions
but if you dont have the main account login then no for security reasons as this would be ludicrous as anyone could upload a script to a domain and run it.

This is clear, but, the script that i want, to install it, the install.pl must be 666 (only owner can touch it), so i can't install it, this should make somebody from the hostrocket support, because he has owner acces!

no just upload your script and use either the file manager from the control panel or yourftp client to chmod the script to 666 yourself

I know that i can set the file to 666, but then i can't acces them anymore, only the owner can do this, and the owner is HostRocket, right?

the owner of anything on your domain is you
if you need to set the script so you can access it use chmod 755..by the way what script is it ?

A Webmail Script :)
I know that i can set it to 755, but then, when i acces it i get an error from the script, because, it must be the owner, that excutes the script, this has notehing to do with the rights that i can set on the FTP.

I didnt realize you were using a script you paid for. I think I have heard of that script. Let me check my library for it.

According to their website, they will install it for you for free. I would take them up it since it seems you are not sure how to do it yourself.

I did have a VERY old version of it in my library lol... talk about changed!

Talk to Brendan, maybe he can setup a special plan just for you with a space increase. With hosting companies space is cheap... its bandwidth that costs a lot. No matter where you go you will pay a lot for bandwidth if you have a large user base, but HostRocket has a very good price for what they give you!

Well the Corporate plan isnt far from that. It has 15gb bandwidth, and 300mb disk space. Try putting in a trouble ticket with Brenden to see if you can get the extra disk space.

They can also provide for you a dedicated server if you want

His needs are far from a dedicated server if that is the volume he is expecting. Considering the difference is between $30/mth and $300/mth, dedicated is a big step up. If what he wanted was really far off from what HostRocket could offer, it might be an idea to find someone else in the same situation as him or a few others and have a virtual server with just the few people on it and then split the costs. It would still cost more overall, but it would be the only way to go up above HR without going dedicated.

Exactly, for the moment i don't need an own server ;) Maybe later :p I will talk with him ;)

Only one way to find out. Just e-mail them and ask.

good idea :D

But i think i found another host that gives me disc space how much i want (they say i can use 10 GB) and with 10 GB Traffic... and when i need more i can put small ads on my site :)

Just one bit of advice, dont go for companies that you cant verify one of the following things:
Location
Telephone Number
Customer Reviews
Also dont go for companies that offer the unlimited or near unlimited type deals for space or bandwidth... bad news there.

Schumi3

well, i know, they offer all "unlimited", but they say i can use 10 GB in mounth, more when i put ads, and space are 2 GB ok!

I have Telefon Number, Location and i will look for customer reviews!
