Without being able to see your site, it's hard to say.

Are you using Meta tags?

Thanks for your email!

My website address is: triptobali.com

I have used metatags, but I still can't get listed on the search engines.

Please feel free to visit my website and give any advice/suggestions.

Thanks (in advance) for your advice!

I haven't even started trying to get listed on the major engines, yet... Instead, I have been working to get listed on the smaller directories that specifically target the same "customers" as does my site. Specifically, since I am running a Christian community, I have been submitting to all the Christian portals/directories I can find.

Some search engines can take up to 6 months or even longer to list your site....having reciprocial links on sites similar to yours and being listed in directories, like RevKev said, are good alternatives.

Hi,
It takes a while to get listed in the major search engines (like google) but just submit your site to them and while you wait spend your time working on the smaller search engines. It took my site 3 months to get listed on google from when I first submitted it, but it's paying off! Also if you are looking for a great tool to figure out which keywords to add to your meta tags use goto's search suggestion tool

http://inventory.goto.com/d/searchinventory/suggestion

put in a term related to your site and see what it suggests use the high ranking terms in your keyword list. This really really helps boost your rankings.

I have visited the goto's sugesttion tool but I'm not sure what to do with it.

After I get all the suggested terms, does it mean that all those terms are the ones to use as my keyword or...???

I'm new to this so I hope you don't mind me asking this.

thanks!

Here's a thought for you, these are the tags on your site:

<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1">
<meta name="keywords" content="travel,agents,travel agent,villas,hotels,Tours,rates,accommodations,Bali,Balinese,touring,www.triptobali.com, trip to Bali">
<meta name="description" content="Information about accommodations: hotels, villas and package tours in Bali including various rates of hotels, villas and package tour as well. Save your mnoney, Avoid paying PUBLISH RATE, visit triptobali.com for your holiday in the tropical island - Bali">

Here are the tags I use on my site:

<META NAME="Keywords" CONTENT="Lumina, Z34, Z-34, Lumina Z34, Chevrolet, Chevy, car, torch red, maui blue, gray, grey, silver, white, black, red, blue, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, racing, Dale Earnhardt Lumina, #3 Lumina, Monte Carlo, sports car, sport family car, sports sedan, owners, enthusiasts">
<META NAME="Description" CONTENT="Lumina Z34.com is devoted to the enthusiasts, owners, and prospective owners of the Chevrolet Lumina Z34.">
<META NAME="Author" CONTENT="Jason Wesley">
<META NAME="Copyright" CONTENT="LuminaZ34.com">
<META NAME="Creator" CONTENT="Jason Wesley">
<META NAME="Distribution" CONTENT="Global">
<META NAME="Rating" CONTENT="General">
<META NAME="Revisit-After" CONTENT="14 Days">
<LINK REV=made href="mailto:jas@luminaz34.com">

I got added into Google, Yahoo, AJ, and the rest fairly quickly.

I did notice some things about your tags though. Your keywords have no spaces between the words so the spiders may not be picking them up, thus kicking your site out. If you want, feel free to use mine as a templete. Hope it helps.

Hey after some other thinking, and talking with my wife we came up with some other ideas for you. These won't necessarily get you kicked out by the spider, but will help your site get more exposure. So here's our ideas how to use you Meta Tags more effectively:

1) Here is a suggested keyword list (we added/deleted a few):

travel, agents, travel agent, villas, hotels, Tours, rates, accommodations, Bali, Balinese, touring, trip to Bali, vacation, vacation to Bali, Indonesia, Indonesian, Indonesian travel, tropical island

We took out www.triptobali.com because they already know the site name, there's no need to list it in the keywords. Also add in any major tourists points. If there's something that people visit often, add it. Basically think of this way - Why do people go to Bali? Make all the answers your keywords.

2) Here's an idea for a description (spiced up the wording a bit :) ):

TripToBali.com, the only place you need to visit online to get a complete and wonderful vacation in Bali. We offer information about accommodations & rates at the best hotels & villas available. Plus we offer a superb package tour as well. Save your money & avoid paying the Published Rate by letting us help you with your holiday in the tropical island - Bali.

The description is selling point. You're trying to impress people enough to visit your site over the other guys.

That's all the thoughts we've got. Feel free to take them and use them to your own accord, or just flush down the toilet if you want. :D Again hope it helps.

BTW my wife and I run a web design business. You can also get free web site proofing there. Furry Blue Monster Webdesign (www.furrybluemonster.com)

php_learner,

here is an example of what I did for my free printable calendar site. I Went to the goto tool and typed in free calendar. Then it generated a lits of good keywords so I created my meta tags which look like this

<META NAME="keywords" CONTENT="free calendar, custom, printable calendar, free calendar to print,free calendar download">

<META NAME="description" CONTENT="Free custom printable calendar, add your own pictures to the calendar as well as special occasions">

If you goto some place like google and type in
free printable calendar

I come up 5th in the rankings and all I did was my meta tags, and submit my site to google. This site has only been listed on google for about a week and already I get 5 or 6 unique hits a day from google because of my meta tags.

Hope this example helps

Google does not use the meta tags for description and keywords (other SE's do though).

The title tag and the content are two of the most important factors (with page rank being the other very important factor.)

The freestuffplaces site has some nice inbound links which helped the placement in Google.

Some few Search Engine tips:

Your Title Tag is a KEY!

Choose the BEST keyword for your site and make sure you have it in your title.

Ex.
My website is www.Teen-Reality.com, its obv, mainly for teens. therefor in my title tags itll would be

Teen-Reality.com: Home of the Teens

notice I have "Teen" in the very first word of the title, and "Teens" as the last word. You should always use your keyword 3 times in your title, in the start, middle , and end.

A Free links page:
title would be - Free Links! - Thousands of free links on the web!

---------
Also ALT tags are a key too. tryto use your keyword in alt tags as much as possible . In the image tags, link tags

---------
Make sure none of your .html documents have dead links in them!

I usually stay away from automatic submission applications because they tend to make more damage than good. Your site might get blacklisted for Google or other important search engine and all your work might have been for nothing.

I manually submit my website to the most important search engines (they are indicated by AdvancedWebRanking, a SEO tool I use to send monthly web ranking reports to my customers) because it's much safer and because I get to control the process.
