Help! I am about to lose my mind. Skype and Vonage have deplorable customer service and I don't know where else to turn. Now I see ViaTalk doesn't have good posts about their service. I just want low-cost VoIP service and dependable customer service without having to drill a hole in the wall where I live, which I don't own. Thanks! (By the way, I am "low tech" so please, please reply in the most basic language possible! :-)

I've been with ViaTalk now for a couple of months and I have no complaints. Call quality has been very good and customer service was very responsive to my trouble tickets. My number was ported from AT&T in less than a week. I signed up for the unlimited calling for $199/yr which also includes the 2nd year free! Averages out to about 8 bucks a month!! Sure beats the close to $40/month I was paying AT&T and that was only for local calls and no long distance! BTW - the control panel is pretty nifty! It's great being able to customize just about everything on your phone including ring time, Do-not-disturb, call blocking, etc. IMO ViaTalk is a great value!!

I've been with ViaTalk for over a year, and the service has been of high quality and very reliable. I visited these forums a lot when I first got started a year ago, as I had some questions as I was "tweaking" the system. However, this is the first time I've been here in a long time. So keep in mind that only those having problems generally occupy the forums. There are many customers (like me) who are having a great VT experience and who don't come to the forums simply because everything is working great.

I've been using ViaTalk for almost 4 weeks and could not be happier. Vonage almost caused me to lose my mind and hunt them down. I've had a few glitches with ViaTalk and they fixed them within a day via email. I was impressed since Vonage could not even get my voice mail to work after three weeks of calling almost daily and being on the phone for an hour each time. I couldn't be happier and they have more features. Of course they need to try and catch up with Google's GrandCentral services--they have some killer features.

Check out the reports at broadbandreview.com or broadbandreports.com

I was with vonage for a few years when they first came out and they were great, but expensive.

Viatalk is ok but be prepared to have a backup in place. Something like magicjack.com or skype for a low cost backup. Magicjack has had its issues to but the price cant be beat.

You want great customer service? Try Phone Power VOIP. I was with them previously. Emails answered within hours. Customer service via telephone produces quick help.

I'd recommend testing out the customer service then. Give a couple calls with a few questions, send in a ticket or two. That sort of thing. This goes with any company you're looking into.

The last year I spent with VT has been the worst possible customer service episode I will try to forget. Like that movie 'Groundhog Day' with Bill Murray... it just keeps coming back around over and over again. Now granted, I joined on back at the SunRocket fallout, but having to pay for priority support just to get someone to answer the phone raised an instant red flag that I was in for a year-long disaster.

I'd suggest starting off month to month before you commit to anything you'd end up regretting.

I would agree. Short discussion before subscribing is the best thing you can do.

I agree 100% with trying month-to-month first. However, that may not help if you decide to save money on an annual plan after a few months. I've had VT for about five months. The first four were quite good, but over the last month I have had numerous issues, none of which VT can correct yet.

Good luck!

Dont forget the fees they tack on.

Many people do not realize that they would be better off paying per miuntue from a company like les.net instead. http://les.net/products/product_ipdidusa.php

Customer service is not something that will generate you a sales directly, but customer service is something that is really important for any business. Actually, good customer service can generate you a sales as good as a well-trained sales agent does. The question is: how to make a customer serviced that will generate sales?
