For tech savvy users VT is a great service.

I have no complaints here having tried Earthlink and AT&T Callvantage. I expected better service and support from those companies due to their reputation but it wasn't quite there I felt. My expectations for VT were much lower since it's a small company and they have the richest feature set. I wanted more flexibility and they have the BYOD option which gives me more control.

My advice is don't go with VT if you are not tech savvy and expect the same support and service that you get with traditional telephone companies that have been in the telephone business for like 80 years! Even those companies like AT&T are still figuring it out - VoIP was only really invented 10 years ago, the Internet was beginning to explode in growth, and now you can get VoIP at your home for a fraction of the cost of 80 year old technology! Remember you get what you pay for and anything that is new will have it's share of problems....and you also have to take the good with the bad....how many more cliches can I list ;)

Good luck!

Oh, I forgot to say THANKS to ViaTalk.

Keep up the good work - there is always room for improvement.

And please don't go out of business for at least a year!

Paging thru these forum topics, one could get the impression that ViaTalk just can't do anything right. That has NOT been my experience. A couple 'one-way' calls - a couple more echo sessions - and that's it for a year of service from ViaTalk. I see a lot of concerns on hold times - and that is apparently an issue, but my maximum hold time on what few times I have needed it was under 20 minutes and the service has been knowledgeable and professional.

Has anyone dealt with Qwest customer service? They answer within five minutes or so - but - you have to call them 3 or 4 times to get the issue resolved! On one occasion, I requested a change in the number of rings before calls go to voicemail - the next day both Qwest lines went dead - 3 days later a service truck appeared - spending a half day driving between my home and the switching center only to determine it was a programming error at central office!

I've been trying for almost a year to get a monthly long distance fee removed from my Qwest bill - with no success. I won't even mention the two decades of trying to have my directory street address corrected!

No complaints on ViaTalk from this user.

I just called yesterday and I was caller #11. Within 5 minutes my call was answered and my issue was addressed. This was mid-day when you'd expect longer wait times.

In all fairness the call times where long, and maybe sometimes still are, but it was not only ViaTalk that had this issue. All you had to do is read on other forums and you can see similar issues or worst. VOIP.COM for example was just as bad or worst.

I agree 100%. I am relatively new to ViaTalk, but I could not be more pleased. With the small amount of experience I have configuring my router, and my ability to (usually) find the answer to most any question on various forums, I had no trouble at all getting everything working. If not for these abilities, it may have required tech support, and I may not have been quite so pleased. I'm confident to recommend ViaTalk to my friends who can deal with minor tech issues. I would not yet recommend it to my Mother... :)
