Please help me here, this is probably an easy question. I registered on this site a few minutes ago, and now I am getting scared... when I signed up for the site, it said what domain.. where the http://www. was I typed in sunsetcleaning.com. My question is, what is all this about a name registrar? I click the $20 domain registration, that makes http://www.sunsetcleaning.com mine right? or am I wrong? Please help. What will people have to type in their browser to see my sight.. Oh and my site is a new one, never published anywhere before.. So it is only moving, off my harddrive.

Thanks in advance.

If that's the name you chose and it was accepted, that will be the URL to your site. However, it generally takes 1-2 days for it to become active. You should receive an email with your IP address and instructions on how to ftp your files to your site until the Internic registration is complete. This being a weekend, you'll probably be waiting until Tuesday sometime before you can use that url.

I registered late Tuesday and today everything is working fine. My advice is not to panic yet, be patient and when all the nameserver things are finalized you'll be ready to go. Also, I dont think you can recieve mail until the same happens, so take the weekend to get your site ready, set up your email accounts and in a few days you'll wonder why you were worried.

Good luck

In case this happens: Some ISP's may not download the new DNS database as often as the majority. It could be a week before the changes go through, or it could be a day and a hlf. It depends when you get your entry into the database and when the ISP's pick up the updates.
