I just installed x-lite & got it configured properly to work. This morning one of my son's friends called and my computer "rang", showed me the name and I answered it. I heard him, he heard me. Of course, I couldn't tell my son to pick up the line because the x-lite is evidentally a "seperate line". The housephone had a dial tone.

I unchecked the "Register with domain and receive...". Then I tried to call my home phone (Viatalk voip) from my cell. Automatic voice mail. I tried to call my friend on both her viatalk line, then her cell phone from my voip. She answered, but couldn't hear me. When I contacted her via cell, she said there was a bunch of static.

After the conversation, I confirmed this by calling voip from cell AFTER exiting the x-lite phone.

:confused:Any help for keeping the x-lite, enabling the VOIP to ring again, and making satisfactory 2-way calls?
PS: If your answers involve BIOS, registry, etc., please give step by step instructions. Thank You:D

Well, the problem here is that only 1 device can be registered to receive incoming calls. If you turn on X-lite, it will register, leaving your PAP2 (ATA) unregistered, therefore when a call comes in your X-lite will ring.

Now both devices (X-lite and PAP2) are set to re-register themselves at specific intervals. Usually 3600 seconds (1 hour) when this happens it will be the last device to register therefore the one to ring during incoming calls. Another exception to this is when you make a call. The device (if it is set up to do so) will register every time you dial out. Therefore, this device will be the one to receive incoming calls.

EXAMPLE: PAP2 is on and receiving incoming calls. You turn on X-lite. It then registers and receives calls. You then pick up the phone attached to your PAP2 and make an outgoing call. The PAP2 registers at that point and then recieves incoming calls. Then you don't make or recieve any calls for an hour. You X-lite since it is still on re-registers, it now is the one that will recieve incoming calls, until the PAP2 registers.

Any help for keeping the x-lite, enabling the VOIP to ring again, and making satisfactory 2-way calls?
So to answer your question, it can't be done reliably. You could play with the timers and registration setting, but there is no guarantee they will work every time. So basically it is one or the other for incoming calls. Now outgoing calls can always be made simultaneously with the X-lite and PAP2.
