Today I signed up for Via:Talk after finding a $35 discount code online. During the signup I entered this code and no message regarding the code being expired or invalid appeared. After signup, in the small print I found the amount my CC was charged and found out that no discount was applied. After calling and waiting for almost an hour I finally spoke to a service rep, who told me that this code DSLREPORT was expired and that I needed to talk to the billing department. He was going to transfer me but..... hang up on me.
Since the discount was a vital part of making the decission fro Via:talk and the bad service experience since, I strongly think about canceling this account even before it even started and go with Vonage.
So please answer me in the next 48 hours to either honor the discount or reimburst the CC payment and call it quit.
Thanks

So you signed up, and when signing up, it say the discount code was invalid, but yet you are surprised that the discount code doesn't work, and you want them to honor an expired discount code?
I know of several discount codes that worked at some point in time, but like all promotions, they have an expiration.

Now hang on that is patently unfair. He very explicitly said there was NO message saying that the code was invalid or expired. Apparently the system just silently ignored it.
Okay, I misread his post, I thought he said it did show a message saying the discount code was invalid.

Well I guess that Viatalk does not respond at all. Not about errors in alerting a new customer about using an expired discount code, nor about honering there responce time of signing up a new customer. At this moment I actually would like to know how happy customers are with ViaTalks service and what the real time frame is that I can expect my equipment.

Well I finally got my equipment after almost a month. I received an email first apologizing for the delay and that my equipment would be there in a week. Yah.... right. Received my email on Friday and....... the equipment on Friday a week later. Hooking up was a snap and in less than 15 minutes I was up and running. Documentation is very marginal, but hooking this up is not rocket science. I am actually happy with the sound quality and the connection time. I do need to upgrade my bandwith though from 256 Kb to 1.5 Mb. Browsing the web and making a call at the same time choppes of the voice conversation. Not a big deal and to be expected. Now waiting on the porting of my old landline number to my Viatalk account and I will disconnect my phoneline into a naked DSL line.

You need to read that post more carefully. That is not what the poster said.
Some serious attitude in your post, too.

That's why I corrected myself two posts down from that post.
