I thought a thread about tips and tweaks to the AC-211 other than simply getting the AC-211 operational with VT would be nice to have, so here it is!
1. I recommend updating the firmware to the latest version: 4.62.22. Before I did this, I noticed that the unit would never seem to have more than 1 day's worth of uptime. It now doesn't seem to reset on its own anymore. I found the firmware and download instructions (Follow them to the letter!) here (http://sunrocket.zefie.com/firmware.htm).
2. Enable the extra features that you always wanted. On the Advanced Calling Features page, you can enable features such as Auto Redial, DND, Call Transfer, etc.
3. Silence Suppression: On or Off? I prefer the Off setting because I notice that when it is On, the caller that hears me is hearing awkward periods of background noise and then no background noise during silence. Note that turning it On will consume more bandwidth (but at the expense of call quality).
4. Packetization: G.711u defaults to 20ms. The lower the packetization, the less latency between the time you speak and the caller hears you. I plan to try out the 10ms setting which may improve quality at the expense of bandwidth.
5. Use of Stun Server. I tried the FWD Stun server, but it created an annoying delay between when I dialed and when the call went out so I can't recommend this unless you absolutely must have it for connection reasons.
6. User and Administration guides can be downloaded from the manufacturer here (volani.volny.cz/img/pdf/enmanual_AC-211.pdf) and here (www.voipcom.cz/pdf/man_en/ts2xx_ag.pdf).
7. Dial Plan. I have used my leftover plan from SR: (>#|911|611|411|311|00|0T|[2-9]xxxxxxxxx|1[2-9]xxxxxxxxx|[2-9]xxxxxxT|011[2-9]x.T|*x.T)
