I signed up on July 16 and have called and emailed. My last call was Monday morning holding for hours, I got Jessica what a pretty name, she assured me it was just a matter of time and they would ship out the adapter so i would get back phone service. I cancelled via https://support.viatalk.com/billing/order_status/cancelaccount.php
Low and behold with in an hour my status page showed the adapter shipped.
They dont answer there email's and over charged my credit card.
I called citi and disputed the charge. The guy told me that they are getting a large amount of calls. To all out there you better read your terms of service with via talk....Customers who order a prepaid service plan understand that service is prepaid and that if a cancellation request is received during the prepaid term, we will calculate the amount of any unused service fee prepayment and a refund will be issued for such prepayment less a 50% early cancellation penalty and any fees associated with our return policy. Activation fees, shipping fees and one-time fees are not eligible for any type of refund; only service fees are refundable as outlined in this agreement. It is your responsibility to cancel service prior to service renewal/billing in order to avoid being charged. Customers are responsible for premium or international charges for which billing may be delayed. Even if you are not using the service or cannot access the service, you must submit your cancellation request in accordance with these terms. To cancel service, please contact our customer service department.

ViaTalk reserves the right to modify or change pricing at any time.

This is whats the best....ViaTalk offers a 14 Day Money Back Guarantee. The ViaTalk 14 day Money Back Guarantee begins on the day your equipment is delivered or [in the case of a BYOD account] on the day your SIP credentials are emailed. Service charges are refundable if you cancel service within 14 days and agree to return your device within 30 days of cancellation. Fees incurred for using premium services, long distance fees (if on a measured plan), activation fees, shipping fees and one-time upgrade fees are non-refundable. The 14 Day Money Back Guarantee does not apply if you are found to be in violation of our terms of service or if you have taken advantage of the guarantee in the past.

Good Luck Guys....bet this company is not around in 6 months..and you better print the web pages they are changing almost daily....

I guess its fair they charge you for at least the costs that they are out on your order. They are out other costs like customer service time etc.

Do they charge 1 year up front for premium and is it all up front?

Thank you so much for that link. I could not find that and after being on hold 3 times for over an hour and getting down to caller 29, I used that to cancel my account. I signed up and selected rush service. 3 days later I called to check the status and was informed that they are not charging for rush service because they cannot meet those requirements (why not update your site and inform me). So I decided to cancel because I started reading everything on here and other places and I do not have time to wait around that long. I al going with another provider who can set me up faster.

I will be watching my credit card to assure I am not charged anything. As of now I have notbeen charged anything from viatalk since I didn't even make it that far. I guess "Modern Bill" can;t handle a full company worth of accounts. I would be a little leary of a company who yuo trust your phone service too and them not even having a real accounting software.

Thanks,
Matt

Funny, took 6 weeks to get my device and the CC stated they charged me for expedited shipping!

Good luck getting ANY money returned. I cancelled back in May and have still not gotten my refund. I waited one month, called and was told--sorry, the first guy did not do it correctly, the "ticket" did not go through. This guy promised to get it done but it can take up to 90 days. I called back 76 days later to make sure it was coming--sorry again, the last guy did not do it correct, this girl would do it for me. She even spoke to her supervisor to see if they could issue an immediated credit (apparently they still have my # on file)--funny how they can charge it not credit it. That could not be done but I would get my check in one week. I waited two weeks and called again. Ops, it was never ordered, this guy would make a "special notation" and he promised I would get a refund. He said he would have to forward it to another dept. I asked if he (or a supervisor) could call me back and let me know what was going on. He said "NO". Apparently you can call in but they cannot call out. I told him I would not call again, I will call the BBB if I do not have my $ in one week. THEY ARE SO FULL OF CRAP. They just want you to give up so they can keep the money. I hope they go out of business soon.

I already called the BBB once for charging me september when i had yet to receive service, that got fixed and now i have had service for almost two weeks now and it is really bad here. others may be better but there is a full minute or longer to connect to a call. quality to land lines somewhat better but to cell phones it really has so much back ground noise and it drops calls left and right. very disappointed. i waited because the forms often said the wait was worth it but not in my area its not. i also have being tring vonage and will have to say its alittle better but if i don't cancel them then i will have a disconnect fee so i will be once again phone less and searching for a good service. if anyone has found one, sent the information my way. i am getting totally over it. Sunrocket was good for me but finding a replacement has been well S**T

After 3 months, I called and the first thing I said was "this is my last call before I calL the BBB". Of course, my money was not in route, the previous person did not do their job correctly (same story as several times before). They told me it would be taken care of and to call back if it was not. I told them I would not be calling them back. I would file a report. I did get a check several days later. They gave me $8 less than I was owed but after 3 months and countless extended hold times to speak to someone who flat out lied or was not competent, I was just happy to get anything. STAY AWAY FROM VIA TALK---THE COMPANY AND SERVICE IS CRAP !!!!!!!!
