I want to purchase a server of my own and start a web hosting company. Somehow I got the configuration of the server. The problem now is how can I register the domain name. what is cpanel is that enough for registering domain name and hosting websites? Is there anyother procdure that i should follow?

I would not bother going out and getting your own server. I would start of with a reselling account with hostrocket.com or some other vendor. Why? Because I think it will be short lived. The web hosting market is over saturated right now when people can get all types of services for a few dollars a month.
