Anyone know what is up with this second phone line. A second phone line to means it is a real second phone line. As best a I can tell is not a real phone line . It does not ring and when I use it to call out the CID says it is my main number. And it does not ring. If that is what they call a second phone line VT needs to get a course on misrepresentation.
Aside from being able to call out when someone is using the other line, WHAT GOOD IS IT. The second line is no good to me unless it can be called into.
Am I wrong or is this the way it works?

You have TWO phone lines that use the same phone number. Both lines receive incoming calls.
If you're using line one and a call comes in, you can choose to switch over on call waiting OR pick up line two and hold separate calls.
Both lines dial out as well.
A second phone number obviously has advantages, but this is a neat feature to include since it cuts down on missed important calls. I'd like to try it myself if VT ever gives it to existing customers...

Chulo, you are not missing anything. It was sold to us as a second phone line which it is not. Keep in mind that one person can only answer one phone at a time. With call waiting why do you need what VT calls a second phone line. As far as picking up the phone and talking to both people at the same time, that is what 3-way calling does. If by chance two people have to make a call at the same time then it has some use. But you can't even use it as a fax line because it does not ring unless you are using the other line. The fact that they don't tell you what they are really selling on their site as a second phone line is nothing less than misrepresentation.

It sounds like it's not working right for you.
"The two line configuration activates two separate extensions to your Viatalk home phone. Now you are able to receive calls on two separate lines simultaneously."
