I just thought I would add a not about other problems you can run into that have nothing to do with ViaTalk and their hardware.

I was with SR and things were OK voice quality for most of the time. Then I started to have problems. Like getting disconnected and quality dropping a cliff at times.

The problem seemed to be random. Then late one night after my phone quality went to pot I tried to work on my email. I could receive emails but could not send emails (the smtp server timed out). I discovered that I could send short email but not longs ones (like with a 1 meg attachment).

I then checked my upload and download speed. My download speed was down by 20% to 50%. The upload was way down below 40 kbs worse than dialup. I call my cable company. They said everything checked out on their end. When there service tech came out we trouble shot the system and found that my 7 mo old cable modem was the problem. He put on a new modem and thing went back to 4.89 meg upload and 498 kbs download. I plugged in the old modem the next day and it worked fine for 14 hours at which time things went to crap again. Bottom line when the room got to about 78 deg F the modem crapped out.

Sometimes you have to look beyond the VoIP provider.
