Signed up online with Viatalk the July 17th, paid the extra $10 for priority shipping, got a new phone number confirmation the 20th with an email stating I opted to use my own equipment (not true). Submitted online technical support about the error with equipment the 20th, still have no response other than a ticket number. Got billed the 21st. Called support yesterday the 26th - on hold for an hour and found out that my order was screwed up, but my shipping label had been printed. Called billing same day to cancel, was on hold for 40 minutes, then call got cut and got dial tone. Today 27th - I'm on hold right now for the last hour and a half for billing, up to called 29. I called Packet8 and got through in 6 minutes and they are overnighting me hardware, they bought Sunrocket's phone numbers, so there's no porting required. No shipping, no installation fee, etc.

Meanwhile Viatalk's management is at the boon doggle Hostingcon. I've been at these and they are a big party. Boat rides? Viatalk is probably a good group of young techies, but they're really dropping the ball on a great opportunity here. All the talk about customer service, just hasn't held true for me. I'm out!!!

Who did you port from then?

Why could they turn my old number on instantly?

Were you with sunrocket when it went under? If not, of course they didn't

I ported from my CLEC. (because Sunrocket no longer exists - they are the ones who "own" the numbers)

Packet 8 certainly didn't approve my number port. Neither did Teleblend.

Those two companies may have agreements with the CLECS to take over the lease of the numbers of anyone that wants to sign up with them. (and in return they pay Sunrocket a fee for doing so)

But they certainly did not buy all of the numbers of every Sunrocket user .. as they were not Sunrockets to sell. Sunrocket never owned them.

.. and yes - i was with Sunrocket up until the day they announced they were no longer in business. I stated my number port on the 19th .. and it completed yesterday.

HMMMM - Packet 8 can port it instantly, not in 6 days. And there is a agreement between sunrocket and packet8. Maybe they took over the leases, or whatever technical jargon you want to correct me on. But they definitely do have an advantage when it comes to time required to get you back to your old number.

Hope everything goes smooth for you here at Viatalk until the dust settles, because it is a nightmare getting ahold of anyone. I'm spending my 2 hours on hold warning everyone about this.

Now I went from caller 2 to caller 8. The customer service is unbeatable.
