Can I do what angelfire does. So I don't have to store any of the files on my PC. So it's like all in the file manager only and I change it from there.
Is this possible?
Basically can I do what you can do on Angelfire. like change the text and all from the Angelfire site??

Using the File Manager in the Control Panel, you have the option to edit (or even create for that matter) any page on your site. It will bring up a page with the html source for your webpage that you can edit to your heart's content and then save.

Excellent!
So there's no need to worry about FTP!
And I can get my site in less than afew months!

(I needed more space so I had to wait to get the new space. But now I don't have to wait)

Thankyou Revkev!
Thankyou!!

Indeed you can use the "file manager" in the Control Panel to upload and even edit files but.........
It's a slow and sometimes infuriating way of doing things

You be much better off getting yourself a proper FTP client and spending a couple of hours learning how to get the best from it.
Most ppl here use one and would be more than happy to help if you got stuck (they are really easy apps to learn)
As for which one to use, you'll get many opinions as to which is the best and why, personally, I don't think there's a great deal in it (I use WS_FTP Pro 6.6)
In the end it will pay dividends with your work flow and file management.

ah. I already have CuteFTP 4.0, the main reason for wanting to not use FTP is that I want to get my site underway in less than about afew weeks (Maybe even months). And I have to wait to get more space so that is the main reason I don't want to use FTP.
Although I will start using FTP when I get more space.
But until I do get more space I just want to use something like a file editor so I don't have to keep everything on my PC and don't have to waist space.
But thankyou!
f I need any help using my FTP client (Cause I'll upgrade to the latest CuteFTP soon, as 4.0 is very old and there are no more FAQ's for it)
Thankyou!

I've known a couple of people that only kept their files on the host server. They encountered two problems. If they wished to move to a new hosting service, they had to spend hours downloading the files and then re-uploading them (or totally recreating them from scratch). Second, in the unforseen event of a catastrophic failure at the host (such as fire, flood, etc) they had no backups to rely on.
It usually only takes losing all the data once to teach one to make backups regularly...

yeah, I'll probably make the backups cause the other helpers for my site don't have too much space. And i'm the only one with 20gb so it'll probably have to be me to make the backups.
Also how often should I make backups of all the things?

Backup intervals depend on how often the material on your site changes. If changes are minimal then once a month is probably sufficient. If you have material that changes on a daily basis, you probably would want to consider weekly backups (at a minimum). The bottom line is... if you change a lot of data that would be difficult to recreate then you want to do a backup immediately.
