Since right now Via-Talk is swamped I was wondering if I someone could shed light on the fact how to enable your device to be able to have the 2 lines. I am a current customer I just would like to use this feature soon since I only have one line. It would be nice if ViaTalk helped us out with letting us know how to configure this... Any suggestions or idea's...

Sorry to piggy back on this...I was thinking the same thing since I went BYOD and have an unlocked Linksys PAP2 device. I searched all the places but could not find a way to configure this device 2 lines for viatalk.

any help is appreciated.

thanks....

I found this about configuring the 2nd line on the innomedia. I do not have my number yet so i can not test it.

Plug another phone into the adapter. Both phones will work independently. You can make two separate phone calls simultaneously.

Or if you're on one of those phones and someone calls your number, the other phone rings.

The easiest way to set this all up is to get a two-line phone, probably cordless with multiple handsets, and run wires from phone line 1 to adapter line 1, and phone line 2 to adapter line 2.

You can also do this within your house wiring and use your existing hard wired extensions throughout the house, but that's beyond the scope of this discussion right now.

[2]outbound calls only? [on one line] just to clarify this,
me thinks it is, to enable the second rj11 port to allow a second out bound call.
if this is true...
my question would be, is this also necessary [telnet steps] for me to allow 2 different numbers to be managed by one innomedia,
besides changing the credentials for line 2 @ ...192.168.251.1/Voice_adminPage.htm ... Configure User Account - line 2
my goal is to put the second innomedia on the shelf for spare parts

I started out with the ViaTalk supplied Linksys PAP2T adapter, but couldn’t use it because it was not designed to connect between my router and modem and thereby be able to grab priority bandwidth. Downloading something from iTunes repeatedly disabled it. So, I was forced to go back to the Innomedia. I now have the 2-line Innomedia working just like the 2-line Linksys using Mihir Gandhi's technique
http://gandhi.wordpress.com/2007/07/19/configuring-2-lines-with-innomedia-mta6328-2re-viatalk/.
However, I would make these changes/additions/clarifications:

1. Password: "slapshot" worked for me, as others have suggested. If that still doesn't work, reset the Innomedia with a paperclip into the reset slot with power on; keep paper clip in contact for 10-15 seconds, then power off for 10-15 seconds. Then “slapshot” should work.

2. Telnet: You must be connected to the LAN port. I had been logging into the Innomedia using the web interface to the WAN port (using the WAN IP address), so I tried the same with telnet, which didn’t work. The LAN port using 192.168.251.1 did work. Also, telnet will prompt you about enabling line 1 before asking you about line 2. Choose yes, even if you are already enabled.

3. VOIP -> SIP Proxy: The box called “SIP Proxy” should have the server name. I recommend you use the one specific to you rather than what someone else has posted, which you can get by logging into ViaTalk account, click on Softphone link and choose generic configuration.

4. VOIP -> User Account: Line 1 and line 2 use different userID’s and passwords. Also, what ViaTalk calls USERNAME (that is, your 11 digit phone number) goes into the Innomedia adapter as USERID. Innomedia also has a box called USER NAME; that should be blank. For line 1 your userid and password are shown in the Softphone configuration from the ViaTalk Control Panel. For line 2, your userid is also your 11 digit phone number with a T added; example: 11231234567 becomes 11231234567T. For the line 2 password, I got mine from ViaTalk priority technical support (the $1.95 was worth avoiding the wait). It was very different from my line 1 password.

If you did it successfully, your Innomedia should show both lines “registered” when you click on Information -> Register Status and the 2-line Innomedia should work exactly as the ViaTalk supplied adapter.

Update: I have read that you can use the same phone number (without the "T" at the end for line 2, but that this steals the registration away from line 1 and you flip-flop back and forth.

I completed the steps from post#3 and referenced the steps from post#7
...found step 4 kept gizmo from registering line 2 properly
my first attempt was not to include the T following the line2 number and both lines “registered”
second attempt to include the T - line2 failed to initialize
currently both innomedias on this firmware image version 3.0.77 (http://www.sunrocket.com/INNOMEDIA/software/sip6328.img_V3077) <--- best obtain before 070805
two lines[temps] on the VT box and HHN / signature lines on SR box
signature line has gone busy for the day - is suppose to port COB - good sign :D
started on 19th - BYOD
this is all happening despite VT's attempts to sabotage my plans... 8)

Just curious - did you try configuring your router to give priority to the port that the PAP2T was connected to?

No, I have heard some routers can do this, but not mine (as far as I know).

I have the ViaTalk Supplied PAP device they sent me 2 weeks ago and when I plug a phone into Line 2 it is just dead. I get no dialtone? Does ViaTalk have to enable this?

I am a BYOD customer. I purchased an unlocked Linksys PAP2T device. I was not able to configure it for 2 lines. I called customer service and was told that only new customers that purchase a provisioned device are being configured for 2 lines. Existing customers and new BYOD customers are not being offered 2 lines yet. I believe other threads confirm that others are getting the same answer.

Also, on the router question. Look for QOS (quality of service) abilities on your router. I had to search the Internet to figure out exactly which menu to look for on my router. My Linksys router is several years old and it had it. It works great for me. When somebody is on the phone, web browsing gets slower, almost to a stop for me, but call quality stays good.
