If you're using more than 5100 mins/month I don't want you sharing my bandwidth so I hope VT closes your account :)

So much for unlimited service.

I would appreciate it if other Sunrocket refugees would post their success/failure here with porting their number to VT.
I saved and printed my account info and the one invoice that still visible on their site. I also paid the extra $10 for the expedited service (and signed up last Friday). Hopefully that gets me ahead of some of the other folks.
Anything else I need to go ahead and do?

Anything else I need to go ahead and do? I did the same about 40 min ago, I've yet to receive an email confirmation. The customer service said even with the $9.95 expedited service, it will still take 2-3 business days for the equipment to arrive, but time is of the essence :). The only invoice I see on the SR portal is the June 07' invoice, I still have my acct number and an email with my last renewal.

Sorry you guys had to go through this with SR. I am glad I left when I did in 04'. Hopefully VT can pump out these orders as fast as they are coming in. I know they are getting slammed and would hate for others to rate them solely on the ordering process with the influx of SR customers getting the wrong end of the deal with SR. Once you guys get your ATA start calling like crazy.
Let us know if you need any assistance with your quality of calls. We are ready to assist others like others have done for us in the past.

I just called my SR number and got the infamous "fast busy signal". I too hope that they can get it ported over fast enough so I can keep the number :)
Based on the nature of the service they provided, it would have been nice to give us a heads up instead of being without phone service for up to a week or so.

I totally agree. My porting took 10 days for SR to release it. Hope all of you that want to keep your numbers have a smooth port over. Link below explains some FAQ for SR customers coming over.

I've got both my business and home phone numbers on SR. I am hoping to be able to port those once my account is established here. There are about a dozen other folks here waiting patiently for my feedback before they take the plunge. They all had Sunrocket too but are more than patient to use their cell phones until the smoke clears and there is a company that can bring them in easily.
I signed up yesterday morning and received a confirmation email last night. I do understand the unique situation around this so patience will be my virtue. I hope ViaTalk comes through for me.

Guys, sorry if I missed someone already saying this......
While it is a pain that the number port will take a while, I was able to use the Sunrocket site and my account credentials to permanantly forward my original old number to my cell phone at first, and now to my Via:Talk temporary number.
So, I get all my calls even though SR is belly up and my number is in purgatory.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that SR will keep that much going until Via:Talk can reclaim the number for me.
Good luck to all the SR Castaways!

You were able to FWD your SR number? Okay, let me try that. Although we don't have unlimited cell minutes since we had unlimited minutes with SR.

As my original porting of my number from Time Warner to SR took 5 weeks back in early 2005, I would be happy if my number ported in less than 2 weeks this time.
I don't know about other people, but my local calling with SR is spotty but still working, but I can't make an long distance calls. Maybe this is due to the local call server being up?

I just signed up w/ ViaTalk this afternoon after coming back from a business trip to find that SunRocket went to that big gizmo in the sky.
I have both home and home office numbers through SunRocket and of course it's my weekend to work.....thank goodness for cells!
I'm hoping that I can get my home number ported over as we've had that number since 1992.
Even though it wasn't offered on the splash page of ViaTalk I choose the BYOD option as it appears from what I've been reading on DSL Reports that you can change the config of the SR gizmo.

Novarod, have you figured out how two lines will be handled by ViaTalk compared to how SR handled them? I too have two numbers I want to switch over, but it looks like paying for two accounts to get similar service. On SR I had two numbers (actually 3 because of their incompetence) that all rang on the same line with unique ringtones had 3 separate voicemail boxes.
ViaTalk supports a "Free second line" but as is discussed in another thread (http://forums.hostrocket.com/showthread.php?p=110104#post110104), it's really just simultaneous use of your one account by two different people on the home end.
To get a second "virtual" number (like we had with SR) costs an additional $3.95/mo. but I don't see anything about a separate voicemail, so I get the impression that it does not include a separate voicemail account.
Anyone know if it is possible to get a second number and a separate voicemail for that number with VT without paying an additional $199/year or even $14.95/mo for the 500 min plan?

Those are the questions I'll get answered as I move through this process. I understand things are not the same at VT as they were at SR but I'm sure we can work thorugh the differences and come out pretty good overall. VoIP is still the best deal in town. I just can't go back to POTS.
Since the second line was for our home business, we utilized ring tones. I wonder if VT uses ring tones?
