I find I don't spend much time/money chasing the newest games out there, but I do sometimes like to relax with some of the older games from years gone by. Anyone else still like playing some of the older games? If so, which ones do you like, and why? Here's a partial list of some of them I still play:
"The Superhero League of Hoboken"
(A very funny comic book takeoff. Probably the best $5 I ever spent on a game...)
Doom (and Doom II)
(Sometimes it's just nice to shoot at things...)
Moria
(Yes, a text based graphics D&D type game)
Super Mario Brothers
(This one is on a used Nintindo we bought for a small fraction of the cost of a newer game console, and it's still fun to play.)

I love playing the old games. I have an OLD Nintendo (NES) and you can't beat the classic games that came with it. All 3 mario brothers, paper boy, Dr Mario, tetris, pac man...such great games. I also love mario cart on the newer Nintendos.

Any old BBS guys here?
I used to run a BBS in the 1990's, however I pulled the plug in 1999 (instead of taking the trouble to make my software Y2K compliant). I never did install any of the online games though, as my BBS was more for messages (what we would now call "forums"), vs "gaming". In fact, I still have that old BBS software installed on my older 486 system running OS/2, even though I haven't had the BBS itself up for several years.
Coincidentally, I still boot up that older OS/2 machine sometimes, as OS/2 had excellent MS-DOS and Win-3.1 emulation. As a result, that machine still has a lot of my older video games installed on it. :D
BTW: While OS/2 bombed in the marketplace, and also had a desktop/GUI that sucked (although you could replace the GUI with the GUI of your choice, and some of us did), many sysops of the day knew how good OS/2 was at multi-taking. It was truly amazing how well IBM wrote the multi-tasking "under the hood" (especially considering that this was a product of the 1990's). I actually remember a time when I was playing the DOS version of Doom (maximum screen resolution/update) on that machine (in the foreground), while having someone logged into my BBS (native OS/2 version of the BBS software) doing a 28.8k download (in the background, on the SAME machine), and the machine was keeping up with BOTH TASKS (the game of Doom, and the file transfer on my BBS) without problems (and the CPU on that machine was only a 486-dx4 100)! That's how good OS/2 was at multi-tasking, especially if/when you knew how to tune OS/2 for maximum performance!

I work for IBM, in one of the most advanced semiconductor fabricators in the world. Most of the 1000's of PCs on site run OS/2 Warp. But then, most of the PC's also are P3 processors.
