Hi Folks,
I'm having an issue where I can only log into my VM about 50% of the time when dialing with my phone programmed to *12#PXXXX . It appears as though the "window" that Viatalk provides for the entry of the VM password is a bit too short.
Has anyone else noticed this? Does anyone have a solution? Not too bothersome for me, but my wife is a little upset.
I would also like to ask the Viatalk powers that be if they can provide a quicker call breakdown so I don't get the blank voicemails that others have mentioned.

Yes, I have noticed it. I don't automate the entry of my password for this very reason. No solution that I know of. There have been requests, however, to allow users to choose to enable/disable the requirement for a password when dialing in from their own VT line.

Yeah, this is why I don't automate my password entry also.
I would also like to be able to disable the password prompt when dialing from my home phone.

I have the opposite problem. I need to pause it twice before entering in the password, but it does work. I use *123PPXXXX

hmm...
Maybe I will have to try this again. My wife complains every time she has to enter our password to check the VM. ;)

Thanks Brian, I think I tried all the permutations but I'll give yours another try.
Perhaps I am showing my ignorance here, but how difficult would it be for Viatalk to modify the software to allow passcode entry to interrupt the request and therefore bypass it. This would widen the window of opportunity.
I know this is petty, but as a former Vonage customer this was never an issue.

Even better, why not have an option to not enter VM password when calling from your VT line? There's a whole thread on that subject here in feature request forum.

This would be my personal preference. Used to work with old vmail system. Since the time it was centralized, it stopped being an option.

This would definitely be my preference, but we live with what we have for now.

On my Uniden phones, I have *123Pxxxx programmed in as my VM access, and it seems to consistently work.
What's in your adapter's dial plan? I have personally found that making sure the following is part of your dial plan can really help with VM access. Don't know if that's your issue, but it couldn't hurt to give it a try.

Guys,
Thanks for all the prompt replies but none seemed to improve the problem. I now agree with most of the respondents (and the other thread) that Viatalk should have an option to disable the passcode entirely.
