Still showing as "Unknown"

I've been with VT for a couple of months and love the service. I ported my number on March 1 but I'm still showing up as "Unknown" when I call people. The number appears but not my name. Before I ported my number my name showed up fine with my VT temporary number. I called Tech Support today and he changed my Proxy from Richmond to Chicago. After he did that I couldn't even dial out. He said my problem was latency. He changed it back to Richmond and I can dial out but it still shows as "Unknown" when I call people. I don't think it has anything to do with latency since my temporary number used to show my name. I think its a problem with the porting from March 1. I've submitted a tech support ticket but was curious if any of you have ever experienced this and what the problem might be. Thanks!!

I just discussed this a bit in another thread. When VT assigns you a temporary number when you begin service, they submit your name that eventually gets propagated to about 17 different databases used for Caller ID lookup.

When your number gets ported, however, they do not resubmit your name to update the database. They figure since it is a ported number, you already have a name out there associated with your number.

VT may charge you to process this request. I think they should offer a one time free update on newly ported numbers, though.
