Here is a good question for all the tech guru's out there
that are using there phone for turning on or off features
which of the following do work with VT? Found out today that the
*99 is for recording a call. and #99 does not work at all.
the *78 & *79 DND do work, but really have not played with
the others yet.
This is from my linksys device in the line 2 config.

the thing is the vertical service codes like those can be implemented both by the ATA and the viatalk service. For example, *78/*79 go to the ATA, and they tell the ATA to reject any incoming calls. fax/modem mode tells the ATA to kill all the echo cancellers, CNG, etc and switch to g.711 ulaw/alaw codec if it hasn't already. However the *99 for recording the call, that has to go to the server; since it's in the list above it will be grabbed by the ATA.

Actually, with the VT provided dial plan, the *99 is not grabbed by the ATA. Since I do not use the VT provided dial plan, I changed the conflicting *99 code in the ATA to something else.
I also use a field called "Feature Dial Services Codes" on the Regional tab to handle both *67 and *99 (typing either of these * codes in when dialing provides me with a secondary dial tone to dial in the rest of the number. The dial plan then appends these numbers to the front of my dialing string and sends them off to VT). Both *67 and *99 are handled by VT and not the ATA.

Actually all the * codes work. The difference is you making the changes in the adapter instead of on VT. So VT may not support all of the them, like secure calls, changing codecs etc. And if you do something like DND, it will not show in the CP. But it will in the adapter.
As for *99, it can be used as both recording and data. You will have to dial differently. If you dial *99and the phone number it will record the call. If you dial *99, wait for a dial tone, then dial the phone number it toggles the data(modem) option. (Or in other words the first way is VT's way, the second is the adapter's)
You could always change the code to something else too, but if you are provisioned this is a little more difficult.

Well what i have been tinkering with is the fax/modem area. as *99 does the record on viatalk and not sure if the linksys when i do the #99 is doing what it is to do or not. as the dialplan i am using is the default from viatalk. As for my 2 dishnetwork recievers there is no way to put a , in there for a pause. So having one heck of a time trying to figure out how to get it to switch to fax/modem without the , in the recievers.
here is the dial plan i have:
L:6, (*xx|*xxxxxxxxx|*xxxxxxxxxxxxx|*xxx|xxx|xxxx|[3469]11|0|00|[2-9]xxxxxx|1xxx[2-9]xxxxxxS0|xxxxxxxxxxxx.|011xxxxxxxxxx.|011xxxxxxxxxx)

Are you sure about this? I've seen other posts where this has been done. Try giving DN a call and ask them if there is a way to do this.

Humm. Not sure where to go with this. The Dial Plan won't help because you need to send the *99 code to the Adapter. The DP is after the fact. The DP controls what is sent to VT by the adapter to be dialed.

Don't be too sure of that. It might depend upon adapter model and firmware version. It's not well known on the net, but at least on some LinkSys/Sipura adapters, the dial plan is in fact executed BEFORE the various adapter codes are checked. I know I was surprised to find that was the case, when I tested that exact (dial plan first, than built in feature codes) "feature" of my adapter. And sure enough, on my SPA-3000 it was dial plan first!
So at least with some LinkSys/Sipura adapters (with at least some versions of their firmware), you could in fact make dial plan entries that activate either "speed dial" or "vertical code" features. And if your adapter is like mine in this respect, than the "translated" values of your dial plan will activate special adapter features if/when those translated values happen to match an internal adapter feature.
So if you want to make sure that *99 is sent to ViaTalk, you not only have to have an entry which will allow/send the *99, but you may also have to make sure you've turned off (or reassigned to a different code pattern) any internal adapter feature that is triggered by that same *99 code)...

I didn't see *74 on the list, but when I dialed it, and then called my line, both my cell phones rang.. so it's grabbing something from my network unavailable or hunt settings. Is there a recent ALL FEATURE code list somewhere?
Thanks.

By default, *74 is used for assigning speed dial in the adapter. You'd dial *74, then the number you want to assign between 2 and 9, then the destination number.
