As the thread title says, my answering machine doesn't know to hang up after the call is done.
What is known:
-- Worked both with Verizon POTS and Packet8 (DTA310)
-- Using VT supplied/provisioned PAP2T.
Any ideas what I can try to tame this? I get a very annoying 'off hook' pulsing Klaxon sound recorded on my machine for me to enjoy when I get home.

I got the following information from a forum for a competitor of VT so I will not post a link. Here is what you can try:
Call VT and have them change a setting called CPC duration on the Regional Tab for your PAP2. You should request that they change it to 0.5
If that doesn't work and you start to have a recording of a dial tone, call back and have them change CPC delay (also on the regional tab) to 10
Please let us know if this helps so that other users can benefit from this information.

Thanks for the info. I have the admin password, so I can try the changes myself, without needing to get CS involved.
Looking at the Sipura Admin Manual, the CPC Duration allows an acceptable range of between 0 and 1.000 (seconds), in 0.001 resolution. So I'm not sure that 10 is a valid entry.
I've changed the CPC delay to 0.5, and will report back my results.

If you re-read my post you will find that the first suggestion is to change the CPC duration to 0.5. The second suggestion is to set the CPC delay to 10. I believe you have your settings mixed up. :D

Oops, my bad. Eye-2-brain interface not working that well tonight, I guess. That's what happens when you configure a new ATA, and watch an 8 yo son at the same time. :p

No problem.
Just let us know how you make out.

Will do. Unfortunately, when I try to make it happen (by calling from my cell), it behaves correctly. But leave the house, I can come home to one or two messages of only noise (or message followed by noise)...

What settings you need for CPC will vary with your answering machine. But most answering machines can be made to "behave" by playing with this setting. So what settings you "need" for your answering machine, is a little bit of a YMMV thing.
For example, I know my answering machine is very happy at the end of my SPA-3000 (actually the answering machine is on a 2-line auto-switch, so that it can answer both my POTS line and the output of my SPA-3000). And I just checked, and the settings I've been using are "delay" of 7 (slightly shorter than the other poster's suggestion), but a "duration" of 1 (which is twice the length the other poster suggested). So IMHO this really is a "play with it" (until you find settings that work reliably for you) type thing...
Edit: Fixed a typo

I changed it to 5 and 0.5, and so far, I haven't had the problem return. But then, someone has been at home almost all the time since I changed it, so we will see...
