Yippee!

My LNP was finalized yesterday afternoon/evening. I noticed a delay between the entry of the last number dialed and the connection being completed. I called support and chatted with a very nice guy who changed the setting in question. I believe the setting was the interdigit delay.

FYI, you can also hit the # key when you are done dialing, and the phone will start ringing instanly (no waiting).

And welcome to the forums Butscher!

I've also moved this thread to a more appropriate place.

It's actually the interdigit long timer. Be careful now. You will have less time between entering numbers on your keypad, if for instance you forget the last number of a phone number and have to look it up on a sheet of paper etc.

Agreed. I actually INCREASED the length of that timer, so I wouldn't be annoyed by things starting to ring (to the wrong location) when I'm part way through dialing.

However, I did also modify my "dial plan" to recognize normal 10 and 11 digit USA dialing, and complete the call "right away" (i.e. my timer is normally very long, but I have my dial plan recognize USA 10/11 digit dialing, and set the timer to 0 as soon as the proper 10/11 digits is dialed). So in a sense I got "the best of both worlds", as I have the longer timer setting, but I also get "dial immediately" for normal 11-digit phone calls.

And as another poster already mentioned, you can always press the #-key when you are done dialing digits (the #-key will act a lot like a cell phone's "send key" in this case, causing the call to "dial immediately").

I have my dial plan set to recognize 7, 10, & 11 digit dialing. With 11 set to Straight out. I have my timers set to 3 for short and 15 for long. So if I dial 7 or 10 digits it waits 3 seconds, if I'm dialing something that doesn't match the dial plan it waits 15 seconds such as a pause after 8 numbers or something like that. The only reason I would be dialing something that doesn't match my dial plan is very rare, and would most likely be me looking for a number. 15 seconds is usually more than enough time to find it.
