After porting, how long does it take for the old phone number to be deleted off of the account?
When I signed up, I got a new number, then after a month, ported my POTS number. Both still show in the control panel.

I got this handled through a ticket when I ported. Just insist that they remove the VT assigned number at this point.

I believe they keep it active for a few months for billing purposed (international calls, etc).

This is the answer I got back when I asked the question about when the number would drop:

"Once the number has been recycle it will be removed from your account. This can take up to 2 weeks. Right now the main number on your account is the newly ported number. This is the only number you are paying for, the other number has been disconnected. Please let us know if you have anymore questions.

- Thank you for choosing ViaTalk!"

After a while, though, I was tired of seeing both numbers...so I asked them nicely to remove it (which they promptly did). :)

After a month or two or three (i forgot) of looking at it after I had ported, I also requested to have mine removed. Ticket took care of it that same day.

Not sure...

Mine just sat there until I asked them to remove it.

Look at my previous post in this thread. VT will not bill for it. They are supposed to remove it once it gets re-provisioned to someone else. I guess no one in your area has gotten VT service in a while. :) Suggest you submit a ticket to have it removed.

My old VT number is still sitting there too for almost a year too. The reason why I dont write to ask viatalk to remove the number is simple security reason. When I get my vt number the first time, I saw  list of in/outgoing calls of previous users of the number. That looks like a security issue to me since now I have complete list of all logs of previous users.

Not sure if this was standard practice of not cleaning previous data from previous users :( but I got what I got and I am worried that when they recycle my number my call logs got transferred to the new customer.

I saw this discussion in the forums, I submitted a ticket to have my temp number removed, and now 24 minutes later it's gone. Not bad!!

I've always found VT customer service to be very responsive. Great group of techs and staff, IMO.

The tickets I have opened have been responded to promptly and usually correct too. The only problem I had with them was when I opened them for more than one technical issue I had to re-open them a couple times to get all issues resolved. It probably is best to open a separate ticket for each issue.

Opening separate tickets is the best thing to do for each issue. That way you potentially have multiple people working all your issues simultaneously.

It also makes it easy for you and VT to track which issues have been resolved and which are still open.
