Only works for a few hours

Hi,

My Viatalk adapter seems only working for the first few hours after I connect it to my home router. During the first few hours, everything works, I can make and take calls. But after a few hours, when I pick up the phone and I do hear the dial tone, then I dial a number, it almost immediately gives me the line busy tone no matter what number I dial. I have to unplug my network cable to the adapter and replug it in to fix this.

Can anyone help on this?

You are only having to unplug the network cable from the adapter, not having to cycle the power? What kind of router do you have it plugged into?

If you have not assigned a STATIC DHCP IP address to your PAP2 based on its MAC address (this is set in the router), then it is likely that your router is set to change DHCP addresses every few hours. See link...

I'm using a Linksys wireless router. I'm not sure my router is the problem since the renewal time is 24 hours. This happens far shorter than 24 hours.

If you have never dealt with setting an IP for the PAP2, I would still suspect this as the issue. Unless you power cycle the router, I don't think the timer restarts. Also, port forwarding or DMZ settings in the router for the PAP2 are needed as well. I personally like port forwarding for security.
