Anyone know exactly what I need to do to set-up at Linksys Pap2T-NA to work with ViaTalk? Your advice is appreciated...
I've heard a few things about STUN servers for fallback, etc. Any advice on configuring for VT DNS servers would be appreciated too.
TIA.

Hi Tia, First you will need to log into your account at viatalk.com. Go to the softphone configuration. Select generic and get your Display Name (Your Name), User name (11 digit phone number), Password, and Server.
Next log in to the Pap2 (Admin/advanced view) and click on the "LINE 1" tab. Go to the Proxy and Registration section.
1. Proxy and Outbound Proxy are set to the Server you got from the above step.
2. Then go to the Subscriber Information Section. Enter your name In the Display Name
3. Enter your User ID from the above User name (11 digit phone number)
4. Enter your password
5. Enter the Auth ID - same as user id (11 digit phone number).
a photo of mine is attached (phone number and name blacked out)
Then below in the Audio Configuration section and ensure your preferred codec is set to g711a.
Most likely this all you will need to do to make and receive calls. Leave all other setting at their default. You can start tweaking other settings later for better audio, etc.
The STUN servers are usually not needed. If you are experiencing problems put the device in the DMZ to circumvent your NAT firewall. To do this you will need to set a static IP on the PAP2. Go to the system tab. Then go to the Internet connection type section
1. Set DHCP to NO
2. Enter a static ip you want assigned i.e. 192.168.1.2 (whatever your router is using)
3. Enter the gateway (internal ip of your router i.e. 192.168.1.1)
4. Enter the Netmask (Found in your router usually 255.255.255.0)
Next go to the Optional Network Configuration section:
1. Enter the Primary DNS. I would use the IP address of your router (gateway) i.e. 192.168.1.1 But if you get static DNS from your ISP enter them (VERY unusual)

To add a little clarification - You need to have your phone plugged in to the PAP2T-NA. (You might want to download the user manual from Linksys - pages 7-12 list the codes you need) Dial **** (four asterisks) which will get you into the system. Then enter 110# to check the IP address of the PAP2T (write it down). Next enter 7932# (this will tell you wether or not the Web-based interface is enabled or disabled). If you got the unlocked version, there is no password. Follow the instructions and turn the Web-based interface on.
Now open a browser window and go to the IP address you wrote down earlier (i.e. 192.168.0.x). Then follow the rest of the instructions of the previous post.

Thanks for the replies. I've got my Pap2t setup as mentioned above, but I'm still seeing some issues in my syslog.
If I use chicago-1.vtnoc.net as my proxy server, I see the following errors repeated in the log:
RSE_DEBUG: unref domain, chicago-1.vtnoc.net
RSE_DEBUG: unref domain, chicago-1.vtnoc.net
RSE_DEBUG: last unref for domain chicago-1.vtnoc.net
RSE_DEBUG: reference domain:chicago-1.vtnoc.net
If I use the IP address (214.246.50.94), I don't get this error.
Anyone know why I would see these errors and how I can fix them?
I've tried porting 53 (DNS) to the Pap2t. I put the pap2t in the DMZ. Nothing seems to change the outcome.
I don't even know if this is a problem... I can make and receive calls. I'm investigating because I want to make sure I have the best service and availability that I can, and I think I need to resolve this to make certain a fallback setup will work (DNS SRV...).
Thanks in advance for any help!
***Forgot to mention that I'm BYOD and my Pap2t is unlocked***

First off, I'm not sure if this was just a type-o or not but Chicago resolves to 216.246.50.94 not 214.246.50.94.
If I use the IP address (214.246.50.94), I don't get this error.
Secondly, I would suspect your ISP's DNS servers in this case. Did you get that address (the one in your system photo) from your ISP? I would suggest putting you gateway (in this case 192.168.1.1) as your DNS server. By doing this you are using which ever DNS server your ISP is using at that moment. ISPs generally have several DNS servers they use off and on. Some go down for maintenance, others error out, some are very old, etc. So if there is a problem with the one you have listed then it will never be corrected. When you use what ever the ISP is using your sure to get a clean translation.
Give that a try first. But if your not having any issues outher than your log I wouldn't worry about it too much... You know the old saying "leave well enough alone."
Hope this helps

I've been playing with the LinkSys adapter setups for long enough, I now do most of my configurations "manually". But that can be overwhelming for the novice.
For the novice, the easiest solution IMHO is to go to http://www.voxilla.com , create a free account for Voxilla, and then just use their device configuration wizard.
Since Voxilla's configuration wizard knows about both the PAP2T-NA (as an adapter), and also about ViaTalk (as a provider), this process should be pretty much as simple as answering a few questions and then letting the Voxilla configuration wizard push the needed settings to your adapter.

I must be missing it, but I don't see ViaTalk listed? is it under another name?
Never mind the Viatalk pic's don't show up in FF for some reason.

if its a pap2 type device VT *should* be able to bulk provision it... I don't know for sure but it would seem that if you give them the MAC and ask for it to be added to their provisioning system, they should be able to reply with the provisioning server to put in and the new admin password. Then you fill in One field (the provisioning server), set auto provision to on, and reboot... in theory at least then all the right settings will be downloaded to your pap2.

I just checked with my FireFox, and I didn't have any problems seeing those links.
However, I did notice that those ViaTalk images were actually ad/affiliate links for singing up with ViaTalk service. So if you have any ad blocking software active (for example, the very popular "Adblock plus" extension for FireFox), your ad blocking software might have being "doing its job" and happily removing those ViaTalk logo images from the Voxilla configuration wizard (as those images on the wizard are technically also "ads").
If so, than the easiest solution is to just temporarily turn off your ad blocking software while using the Voxilla configuration wizard.
BTW:
I also have the "Adblock plus" extension for FireFox. However, I do my own "block list" (instead of "subscribing" to one of the block lists that's out there), so my "block list" really doesn't match what anyone else is using. Still the fact that I can see those logos with blocking turned on, means that it's clearly possible to tell Adblock plus to allow those images (as "legit content"). So seeing those logos or not, is all a question of what you have chosen to put in your "block list". Still, "the path of least resistance", is to just turn off ad-blocking temporarily if/when you are accessing a web page (such as the Voxilla configuration wizard) where the ad-blocking is removing needed/desired content...

Yes it was Adblock Plus.
I'm configured. Doesn't sound great, but it's working.

They won't do it. They will only send you one of their devices.
