Rings once and nothing...

Is this a VoiP thing? I dial some numbers and they ring once and then seem to go into the ether.

Yes, this is a voip thing. Most likely it means that your proxy isn't set up. The voip device connects and registers properly. Then, when you call, it tries to connect the audio stream to ViaTalk. Something blocks it (like a firewall), so the call is able to establish, but the audio is not.

Check your proxy settings.
