1. I spent some time past weekend testing XLite and determined that the best way to use it was to first disable my adapter Line 1, then execute softphone. All inbound calls would ring on my laptop speaker and a little box would open with caller id and a pick to answer or ignore. I also tested remotely from a hotel and remotely disabled my adapter Line 1 and same good results. I also let it ring out to voice mail and an envelope icon appeared which when clicked on took me right to my normal voice mail.(had to program the *123 into the voice mail number on Xlite). I also got Email from Viatalk that I had VM. So with this, I feel that Xlite is fully functional. I think that its important that you disable your home adapter to properly use softphone. It makes sense that only one connection can be using the regristration at the same time. Outbound works ok, but I had some trouble with where the inbound ring was going with both registered at same time.
2. In order to get DTMF touch tones to work properly you have to make two changes to the Xlite default setup. These changes are called out by ViaTalk in the below link.
