I've submitted a support ticket but I thought I'd ask you experts while I wait. Today I'm not getting CallerID status on any of my telephones. It just says "Incoming call". If I log onto the web site and view the incoming call log all of today's calls show up correctly but they never displayed on any of my telephones. I have not cycled power on the PAP yet, I wanted to see if any of you had any suggestions first. Thanks!

I'm having a similiar issue. One phone shows CID info. and another one doesn't.

If you guys are using a cordless phone then you need to set the options in the phone "Menu" itself. I have a UNIDEN cordless phone and in their I set the CID and CIDW feature. Check all handsets and look in to the menu setup for them and see if it is also enabled in there. I will check back in later for your responses.

Thanks but my phones are fine. I've been using Viatalk for a couple of weeks now and everything has been fine, nothing changed but all of a sudden yesterday CallerID just stopped working. Up until yesterday it was working perfectly.

It's not the phone. I've used Vonage for a year and have had VT for 9 months with CID working fine. Tried this morning and it seems to be working fine. Must have been goolies.

Wish mine was working...I power cycled the PAP but I'm still not getting CallerID information displayed. Very strange...

I just called my VT number from my cell phone and my name and number showed up. I also had one of my relatives call me and their number and name came out fine. I am using my own PAP2 box that I purchased online so can't vouch for the ones that VT sends their customers.

Still having the problem, rebooted my cable modem, router, and PAP...still not getting CallerID information. However, if I log on and look at my incoming call log the numbers DO show up there. I'm really confused. Again, nothing has changed, it just hasn't been sending CallerID info now for 2 days. I have a ticket into support. I submitted that yesterday but I haven't heard anything.

Back in Sept, many people had some real problems with CID. This came about due to the addition of DNS settings in the ATA in order to handle the new setup of VT's systems. One of the DNS servers our ATAs were configured to was having severe latency problems, which did have an affect on CID. The standard for CID is to transmit the CID info to your phone after the 1st ring, but before the 2nd ring. If the timing is off where it does not transmit during this period (for example, after the 2nd ring), then phones normally do not display it at all. So timing with CID is everything. I have found that DNS issues can affect this timing.

You may want to temporarily turn off your provisioning and play with some of the DNS settings in the ATA (I'm assuming you have a provisioned Linksys). I am posting my settings settings for you to try.

I had an issue with caller id not showing when using distinctive ring feature. With either too short of a ring OR not enough time between rings, the caller-id would not show up. I changed my ring patterns to morse code using .2 sec for dits and .6 seconds for dah's. Using ring pattern 60(.6/.2,.2/2.5) I found my cordless and my caller-id modem would not get the info even though one of my phones did get the CID. I changed the 2.5 second pause to 3 seconds, then my cordless would get the CID. For my CID modem, I had to change to 60(.75/.2,.25/3). With that everything worked on CID. Of course, the standard ring of 60(2/4) works.

Just thought I would mention the interaction of CID and ringing.

Well tech support had me put it in the DMZ and it started working again. Very strange though. I had all the ports opened up on my router, etc. It had worked fine for a couple of weeks then just one day it stopped sending CallerID info through the firewall. With it in the DMZ it started working. Oh well....

Hey chriswalker, if your not comfortable with the ATA being in the DMZ and fear someone might hit the IP Address from the web accidentally then what I would suggest is changing the web management part or just make sure it is not on. I have a linksys router and I always like to use the web management part to access it when I am away from home. You can also turn on the logging feature. Let's say I have an IP address of 24.28.165.99 from my ISP. In my router I turn on secure web management and use port "8080" to access my router from the web. So in the address bar I type in "https://24.28.165.99:8080" then I get my log in prompt for my router and enter the user name and password. Or you can just turn off this feature permanently. You mentioned you had forwarded some ports. What were they? The ones I think you should have had forwarded are "5060" & "80", first one for your ATA and the other one for the web.
