It would be great if via talk adapted the following:

1. 511 Dialing (http://www.vonage.com/features.php?feature=511)
2. Receive notification of new messages by phone, email, pager, text message, or Instant Messaging (AOL IM, Yahoo IM, MSN IM, SKYPE or ICQ).
3. 811 Dialing (http://www.vonage.com/features.php?feature=811)
4. Voice Message to e-mail (MP3 Format) if ViaTalk dosen't have this...
5. If there is not a remote way to check your voice mails besides the internet then I would like to have a way to do that...

I could care less about this one (my state doesn't offer this) ;)

2. Receive notification of new messages by phone, email, pager, text message, or Instant Messaging (AOL IM, Yahoo IM, MSN IM, SKYPE or ICQ).

Do you really need an IM saying you have voicemail?
ViaTalk does offer some of these, like email, text message.

3. 811 Dialing (http://www.vonage.com/features.php?feature=811)
Good feature to have, although I doubt I would ever use it, but good to have "just in case."

4. Voice Message to e-mail (MP3 Format) if ViaTalk dosen't have this...
Voicemails can be delivered to your e-mail with a WAV I believe attachment.

5. If there is not a remote way to check your voice mails besides the internet then I would like to have a way to do that...
You can check your voicemails online, and through a toll free number.

I understand that there are many features that we don't need and need... I too don't have that service in my state but I am just posting ideas... I do think that having multiple voices mail boxes is a great idea and should be implemented...

MP3 voicemail attachments would be nice, if only from the perspective of not filling my mailbox with fairly large WAV files.

511 access is available in my state, however, the time I would want to access that information is while I'm on the road using my cell. So having that on my ViaTalk line, really wouldn't help me. If at home/office, all the information from 511 is accessible online. In NJ, it's at www.NJCommuter.com

Smaller files for email would be a welcomed option. WAV files are simply too large.

I agree that viatalk voice mail is too large. It is not the wav format but rather the encoder used that is the problem. I have compared this with others voicemail from other system ( asterisk or lingo) and viatalk message is simply not compressed enough. I have asked for better compression on voice mail many months ago but I was told not possible. With Asterisk this option can be set by individual user.

I used to be able to listen to my voicemail with an Audrey. Now I can not because the voicemail file is simply too big. Here is the format of wav files that I see:
Asterisk uses GSM610, Mono, 8.000 kHz and 16-bit Integer (Little Endian), Mono, 8.000 kHz
Viatalk uses 16-bit Integer (Little Endian), Mono, 8.000 kHz
Lingo uses DVI ADPCM, Mono, 8.000 kHz

text message

Please, can anyone tell me where I will find the directions how to send a Text message to someone's phone number using ViaTalk? I can find it nowhere... is it possible with ViaTalk?

if not, can anyone tell me of a free service I can use to type an email and send it to someone's phone number? They have requested that I Text Message them 'only'... and I need to talk w/ them.

Thanks in advance!

ps - this online text message service (http://www.txt2day.com/) apparently works w/ vodaphone, but not ViaTalk

Im suprised that you have not found an answer to that question yet. Have you tried using a search engine by chance. There are lots of resources on the internet with information on that.

Here is a useful page I found from google groups with some links to help answer your question:http://groups.google.com/group/google-talk-labs-edition-discussion-group/browse_thread/thread/bf81d7a34e9dc632

Hope this helps answer your question. Try posting a question to wiki answers or yahoo answers. Someone is likely to answer your question with a week.
