Allow any phone number to be used for the Call Alarm feature. We talked about this one time in the DSLREPORTS forum. I just can't see the harm in doing this. This would be especially useful on trips...where you would not be taking along your ATA. I cannot imagine that this would be a difficult thing to change. It is probably just a matter of allowing a number to be typed in the field on the webpage (instead of just your own VT number from a drop-down list).

The most useful way would be custom call routing since all alarm calls come from the same 866#, set custom routing to forward only that number where ever you want. Voila you now have any number call alarm.

Other ways: Use simulring, call forwarding, or network unavailable if want a different number to ring.

I think when they first introduced this feature, you could put in any number that you wanted to be called at.
It was quickly changed due to possible abuse.
Say I had a friend that I didn't like, I could setup an alarm to call him everymorning at 2, 3, 4, etc, and he would have no way of stopping the calls....

I figure that if I didn't like someone, I could do this manually as well. I guess there's room for abuse with anything. I still would like to see this, though. But that's just me. :)

I appreciate the response. Not to be the devil's advocate, but I could see abuse with this just as easily as if I could set the number myself in the Call Alarm feature.

Instead of having to do workarounds, I suggest they simply enable this in the feature. Much simpler. :)
