I keep having problems with people saying my voice sounds like it is computer generated, or they don't hear me at all and I have to hang up and call them again, sometimes 3 or 4 times and since it is a business phone that is not good. My question is, can I use a switch instead of a router with my computer? I have been told that it would be a much better connection if I can. Does the router actually only give you 25% of the signal per port?
Thanks,

A router has a switch built in, so buying a switch isn't going to do anything.
The router will divide up traffic, so if only one computer is using the internet, it will get 100% of the bandwidth.
You might try setting up QoS if your router has the ability.
Otherwise you might try putting the adapter in the routers DMZ and see if that helps any.

This problem has been reported by many, including me, on the DSLReports.com ViaTalk forum just this past week.
Something has to be up at the VT side for so many to be reporting this issue.
My suggestion is to open a support ticket so that VT is aware that you, too, are affected.

I've had some similar issues on and off. I had them switch my SIP port to 5080 and also I moved to a different server off the CP and that has seemed to resolve my issues.

I'm experiencing the same problem from time to time over the past week. It's not every day or every call...but happens periodically. I have 5mb down and 2 mb up with Verizon FiOS (fiber optic) so I doubt bandwidth is the issue. Also at the time I have had the problem there has been no internet activity other than the phone call in progress. I am on port 5080 already. I'm currently using one of the New York servers with a Sipura 1001 adapter.
Is anyone NOT on NewYork or Chicago experiencing problems?
I was having a problem with Chicago about a week ago, and switched to the Houston server.
Doing a ping, it looks like Chicago, and NewYork are the same server, so maybe the server is getting overloaded at certain times?

Maybe one of them was down and your ping results are the result of their server's automatic failover?
