"Deluxe" Call Waiting?

My Uniden TRU 9485 phone system allows me to have "deluxe" call waiting so that the caller ID of the "interrupting" caller is displayed when the call waiting signals alerts you to the second incoming call.

My question: Does VT support this feature? I do not think it does, as when we have had our calling waiting beep, the caller's ID is not displayed.

Is it possible for this feature to be enabled (if it is currently offered) or perhaps offered in the future? Thanks--I am enjoying ViaTalk's good service.

I'm pretty sure ours is working this way. We see the caller ID/name of the person calling (the "interrupting" caller) when we're on the phone already talking with someone.

I believe the common name for this feature is "Call Waiting ID".

i have the same phone system and it shows me the name/ID of the person calling when i'm on the phone as well.

are you saying yours is not displaying this?

2 separate functions on your phone.

One is Caller ID Call waiting (CIDCW) Enable this it is supported by Viatalk. It will show the name & number of the "interrupter" while on a call.

The second is Caller ID Call Waiting Deluxe (CWDX). This is NOT supported by Viatalk. This would enable you to ask the "interrupter" to hold, give him/her a busy signal, send him/her to VM, conference him/her in on current call, among other things. The choice would be yours.

Thanks to all of the good responses. Brian is correct--my muddled question was referring to two separate features. My Call Waiting-Caller ID is now working. Too bad that VT doesn't support the CW Deluxe feature, where you can choose to:

1. Give the caller a prerecorded message to hold
2. Send it straight to voicemail
3. Answer/drop
4. Conference the call into the existing one via three-way calling.

I'd like to take advantage of this feature on my phone system, and I'm sure that others would as well--so I hope that the VT folks put this on our feature request list!

God only knows how many times she would have used this feature when she is on the phone with her mother and her sister calls in or vice versa.
