I have a set of Uniden cordless w/ expandable handsets (model CLX485). I had the voicemail indicator light working when I had SunRocket. When I switched to VT, they told me that there are problems w/ this particular handset & this feature (the blinking light if there is a VM waiting) will not work. I cannot understand this if was working on a different service (same device). Any suggestions/ideas?

I have a Uniden as well, but its a DCT5260. I sent an email to support@viatalk.com and asked them to enable my Message Waiting Indicator (MWI) for voicemail and they set it for me.

I tested it a couple of times and so far it seems to work.

My question would be whether you submitted a ticket yet to have them turn on the VMWI light (as it is not turned on by default for your account...which I think it should be as it doesn't hurt anything if you don't have a phone with a light)? Since it worked on SunRocket, it should work on VT as well. What kind of ATA did you use when you were with SunRocket? Are you using the same one or did you get a new Linksys from VT?

I used the Gizmo (I can't remember the brand name). I will try submitting a ticket just for that, though, & see what happens.....

That has come up before. Most of the phone/answering machine combo's do not play well with a provider based VM system. You most likely will not get it to work, but you never know.

I am having the same problem, this has to be set up by viatalk? No mention of this that I could find. I did submit a ticket to them, asking what kind of voice mail notification signal they use.

they turned on this feature. question, why does this need to be turned on? What needs to happen from Viatalk for my Uniden light to work? Just curious..

Just an FYI, some people aren't pleased with the indicator light, because it can take up to 60 seconds or so for the light to go off after you check your voicemail.

Yeah, it only used to take 2-3 seconds before they centralized the voicemail system.
