Hello,
I have another suggestion, but I'm not sure if it can be implemented.
Currently there is a slight delay when dialing a 7 digit number, because the system needs to determine if the user is truly done dialing or if they simply paused while dialing a 10 digit or longer phone number.
Would it be possible to dial exactly 7 digits and then use the # or * key (or some other signal) to indicate that dialing is completed and to immediately put the call through? That way dialing delays could be optionally eliminated on a per-call basis.

If you are using a Linksys PAP adapter, you can do this already by pressing the # key when you are finished dialing, and it sends the calls instantly.

Set your Dial Plan to: (*xx|<:1AAA>[2-9]xxxxxx|1[2-9]xx[2-9]xxxxxxS0|<:1>[2-9]xx[2-9]xxxxxxS0|011xx.|1900xxxxxxx!)
Where "AAA" = your area code. This plan allows for 7, 10, & 11 digit dialing, *codes such as *69, and international calling, and it prohibits 900 # dialing. There will be no delay when dialing 7 or 10 digits, and no need for a # sign.

Thank you!
Interesting idea. I will look into that. Is the Dial Plan something that will be reset (either automatically or by ViaTalk) the next time the PAP2 is power-cycled?

Yes and No.
If you have provisioning enabled on your Pap2 then I would open a ticket with Viatalk and ask them to make the change for you. Just tell them you want to change your dial plan to: and include the new dial plan. You could make the change yourself to test it, but the next time your device is provisioned it will be changed back to the old one.
If you do not have provisioning enabled you will have to make the change yourself. Log in to your adapter, (advanced admin view required) enter the new dial plan on then "line 1" page towards the bottom. Save the changes and reset your adapter (and network if necessary).
Another way to test the new plan, is to copy the current dial plan into a word doc for example and save it. Put the new plan in the pap2 and save it, use it for a few days, if for some reason you have problems you have a back up copy of the old plan, just change it back. I can't imagine why there would be problems I've been using that plan for months with no issues at all, but you never know.
Be careful when you submit dialplans through a ticket.
The ticket system sometimes like to mess up certain charcaters like [ < (
There was a work around posted on dslreports.com but I don't remember it, sorry.
