BrainCast is one of those services that has great potential, but I'm not sure how I'd use it. How do you use it? Fill up the thread with lots of ideas, please! =)

I use it whenever I think of anything work related at all. I just call, it beeps, I leave a message, and when I get to work the next day the reminder is in my email box.

A lot of times when I'm listening to the radio and hear a good song I always forget it by days end. So, I just leave myself a message using BrainCast with some of the lyrics or actual title/artist and I don't ever forget songs I liked now. That's just one of the things I use it a lot for.
If anyone uses it for anything else by all means post it. It's interesting to hear how other people find it useful!

Allan,
It is funny you mention that....I did the same thing this evening when I heard a song that I wanted to download and I called Braincast with some of the lyrics......

I was looking at Braincast and trying to think how I would use it. It seems to be the same as calling yourself at home and just leaving a vm (which I already do).

I'm with Brendan in that I use it quite a bit. I will record quick notes for I don't forget later.
My only thing would be that if there was a way to set the call back at the time of leaving the message. It's not a huge ordeal now but right now, I record the message then go back in after I receive the email and then set the call back date/time. If that could happen at the same time a leaving the message that would be great. Again, though...it's not a huge ordeal. Braincast is an excellent service!!
Thanks ViaTalk!

I leave myself voicemails as reminders too. But, it looks like Braincast would be better, because I think you can tell the system to call you back on a certain day.
Then, instead of holding on to old messages for days on end, which I tend to do, I would get a brand new top of the queue message closer to the day of the event.
If this is the case then I agree with davis_mc that it would be more convenient to set the call back info at the time of the call...maybe push a button to get to an options menu.

I use Braincast for voice notes at the office. Bascailly have a speed dial on my phone that calls braincast on speakerphone and I just record whatever I need: handsfree.
Another way to use braincast is to record quick mini podcasts for your site or blog. Here's the writeup: http://www.quebequoi.com/content/view/39/27/lang,en/
(http://www.quebequoi.com/content/view/39/27/lang,en/)
It's a quick summary of how to use online tools to Podcast via Braincast.

Hmmm...hadn't thought of it for "on the street" podcasting!
I *did* think of how I'll probalby most use it the other night when I was thinking of some script ideas in bed. I, of course, forgot most of them in the morning so I setup Braincast as my #3 speed dial for future use! It's kinda like a voicerecorder with no tape restrictions and easier to organize.
A TiVo(ice)...if you will! =)

I thought that for a minute as well but then realized with a voice recorder you have access to the recordings from the phone or voice recorder, but with braincast you have to go on the web to access the recordings. It'd be nice if you could access braincast messages by dialing into a phone #.

That would be a cool feature, but I still like having it in my email when I get back home. I guess my uses are for ideas that I need to work on so I probably wouldn't use it for something that I needed to listen to before I got back to the computer.
I wonder if you could listen to it via WAP. hmmmmm...

My suggestion wouldn't be to eliminate the email feature. But to just have the option to dial in at any time to listen as well.

I hear ya! =) I wonder if storage space is an issue for a free service. I'm just guessing b/c I have NO IDEA. If so, maybe they could have an 'added value' feature for their ViaTalk customers to also send the message to their VoIP voicemail.
By the way - how are using Braincast?

Could BrainCast be more like Jott.com?
-transcribe my voice message
-allow me to forward the message as text to various contacts
-ability to listen to the recording without having to logon to anything. the jott link in your email takes you directly to the recording and you just click play. no typing of username or password required.

VT voicemail does the opposite now. Send an email to your11digitnumber@vtvoicemail.com and it will turn it to voice and be in your VM box. So it shouldn't be too far of a leap for BC to turn it around.

I tried sending an email to my 11 digit number @ vtvoicemail.com and it was returned as undeliverable. Is this feature available for all accounts?

Hmmm- I'd like to try the email to voicemail service, too, but there's some access limitation (see below). I can see how blindly accepting sendmail from sp@mbots would be a nightmare- so what's the access method?
