One feature I miss that I had with Optimum Voice was when I had a text message sent to my cell phone to alert me I had a voicemail, the calling number was included. The text said something like "You have a voice mail from 631-555-1212." I'd love to see this in ViaTalk.

VERY COOL request...I second that!

If either one of you is using asterisk at your home, you can make this happen via the configs; its called "play envelope" in the voicemail options.

The email sent with the wav file attachment gives complete stats about the voicemail, name, number, time, length of recording.

Can we get this info sent to the SMS instead of a generic message saying "We just wanted to let you know that you have a new voicemail." A compact format of the main email msg with CID name, number, length would be great.

I am going to try switching it around so my cell gets the main message with the stats even though it will get chopped at 120 characters. And have the generic sent to my normal email. If I can get normal email, I can log in and get the rest.

I agree, it would be nice to have the SMS include the phone number and caller ID. Or if they turned this feature on for the alternate email that would do as well. The reason for this is that I like my voicemail to go to my email account so I can check them from work easily. But I want the alert to go to my cell phone in case I'm not in front of the computer. Including the number and/or caller ID helps me determine if I need to check the voicemail right away.

BTW, the current message format, with the caller ID and phone number, lets me call that number back easily. I can just press send, when in the message, and it automatically shows the number ready to dial. Most cells will do this, I think.

As I have two Via:Talk lines,
and my work addy receives the alternate email notification of voicemail from BOTH lines,
having - at the very least - the phone number of the line that now has voicemail would be VERY helpful.
Obviously, the "Who" & "Who's number" would be most helpful.

I like the format that GrandCentral service uses (www.grandcentral.com) for their SMS vmail notifications.

"You have a new voicemail from 'Name', 555-555-5555. Wed, Apr 18, 2007 11:00 am 00:30".

It fits on my cell phone's display perfectly, too. Changing the format of VT's SMS vmail notifications has been a request for several months. I hope they will now address it.
