I found when I run my softphone, incoming phone calls get directed to my softphone and not to the PAP2T device. Would be a neat feature to be able to run the softphone as if it were an extension on your home wiring. That way, both the softphone and the Pap2t could ring at the same time. And, the first to get the call gets it. It would be similar to using Simul ring feature, except you don't have to use an different provider for the softphone.

Currently, it does work, especially if you know no one is home that would need to receive a call. After turning off the softphone for ten minutes, the PAP2T should take over again.

Obviously, some limitations would be needed otherwise you could make unlimited (up to TOS) calls on both lines.

This would be an interesting feature.
One could do this eaily though with running your own Asterisk server.

I agree that this feature would be great. I have 3 asterisk servers running, one in connecticut for extension, one testbed and the other is with my father-in-law who is running his viatalk phone through it.

However, asterisk is good for the techie as it does require a little work to get everythign running as expected. This feature could be done on the viatalk side as well - not sure but believe they may be using a form of asterisk as well. By doing this, you would not need to have your own asterisk running and could use your softphone when away or in another room and still have the PAP hooked up and functional.
