.asp used on HR. possible???

is it possible to run .asp scripting here on HR?

Don't think so, as we are on Unix servers and .asp (I believe) is IIS only. Unless there's some sort of backend program that can convert the info......

The HR team has considered ChiliASP, but they haven't implemented it for use to the customers at this time. I don't know if they are still considering it or not, but there's a few threads around here about it--maybe if you try a search on ASP or ChiliASP.


From what I understand it doesn't have the full functionality of "true" ASP though, if that's what you are after, I'd go for an NT host.

Thanx for your replies guys, much appreciated. But I'm pretty happy here at HR, I don't want another host. :) I want .asp here at HR, just gunna have to wait it out I suppose, thats all that there is to do. Thanx again though guys.

Hi,

At the moment we don't have any plans to install asp on the servers because...

1. ASP was meant for Windows

2. We have Linux

3. Chilisoft cannot run complex and sometimes very basic scripts and is very buggy software. Install it on your PC (if that is possible) and see how well it performs and compare normal ASP and you will be suprised at the bad quality.

KaoZ, there's really nothing unique to ASP that you can't accomplish with PHP or Perl. I'm a longtime Perl programmer who was just beginning to pick up ASP but stopped myself upon realizing how superior PHP really is. I recommend checking out http://www.php.net/ and seeing for yourself : )

Why use ASP when you have the power of PHP. If you know c/c++, you will fit in perfectly since PHP is based on c/c++. If not, you should be able to pick it up quickly. It's a very easy scripting language to use/learn.
